2. Safety Information
Always observe the following safety precautions during installation and operation:
- Disconnect the vehicle's battery negative terminal before starting any electrical work.
- Ensure all wiring is properly insulated to prevent short circuits.
- Mount the amplifier securely in a dry, well-ventilated location, away from heat sources and moisture.
- Use appropriate gauge wiring for power, ground, and speaker connections as specified in this manual.
- Do not operate the amplifier if it is damaged or malfunctioning. Refer to the troubleshooting section or contact support.
- Avoid listening to audio at excessively high volumes for prolonged periods to prevent hearing damage.
3. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance and safety. If you are unsure about any part of the installation process, consult a professional car audio installer.
3.1 Unpacking
Carefully remove the amplifier from its packaging. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage that may have occurred during shipping.
Included in the box: Amplifier.
3.2 Mounting Location
Choose a mounting location that is dry, well-ventilated, and secure. Ensure there is sufficient airflow around the amplifier's heatsink to prevent overheating. Avoid mounting in direct sunlight or areas prone to excessive vibration.
3.3 Wiring Connections
Refer to the diagrams below for proper wiring connections.

Figure 2: Input panel of the DS18 G1800.4D amplifier, showing gain controls, crossover switches (HPF, LPF, F), and RCA inputs for channels 1-4.
- RCA Inputs (CH1, CH2, CH3, CH4): Connect your head unit's RCA outputs to these inputs.
- Gain Controls: Adjust the input sensitivity for each channel pair (CH1/CH2 and CH3/CH4) to match the output of your head unit. Start with the gain at minimum.
- Crossover Switches (HPF, LPF, F): Select High-Pass Filter (HPF), Low-Pass Filter (LPF), or Full Range (F) for each channel pair.
- Crossover Frequency Knobs: Adjust the cutoff frequency for the selected filter.

Figure 3: Power input and speaker output panel of the DS18 G1800.4D amplifier, showing terminals for GND, REM, +12V, and speaker outputs.
- GND (Ground): Connect to a clean, bare metal chassis ground point in the vehicle. Use a wire of the same gauge as the +12V power wire.
- REM (Remote Turn-On): Connect to the remote output of your head unit. This wire turns the amplifier on and off with the head unit.
- +12V (Power): Connect directly to the positive terminal of the vehicle's battery. Install an appropriate fuse (not included) within 18 inches of the battery.
- Speaker Output (CH1+, CH1-, CH2+, CH2-, CH3+, CH3-, CH4+, CH4-): Connect your speakers to these terminals, observing correct polarity.
Important: Ensure all connections are tight and secure to prevent intermittent operation or damage.
4. Operating Instructions
Once the amplifier is installed and wired correctly, follow these steps to configure and operate your system.
4.1 Initial Power-Up
- Double-check all wiring connections.
- Ensure the amplifier's gain controls are set to minimum.
- Reconnect the vehicle's battery negative terminal.
- Turn on your head unit. The amplifier should power on, indicated by the power LED.
4.2 Gain Adjustment
The gain control matches the amplifier's input sensitivity to the output of your head unit. It is not a volume control.
- Set your head unit's volume to about 75% of its maximum.
- Play a dynamic piece of music.
- Slowly increase the amplifier's gain control until you hear distortion, then back it off slightly until the sound is clear.
- Repeat for all active channels.
4.3 Crossover Settings
The crossover filters allow you to direct specific frequency ranges to your speakers, optimizing sound quality and protecting speakers.
- HPF (High-Pass Filter): Allows frequencies above the set point to pass. Typically used for full-range speakers or tweeters to prevent low bass from damaging them.
- LPF (Low-Pass Filter): Allows frequencies below the set point to pass. Typically used for subwoofers.
- F (Full Range): Allows all frequencies to pass. Use if your head unit handles crossovers or for speakers designed to play a wide frequency range.

5. Maintenance
The DS18 G1800.4D amplifier requires minimal maintenance.
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the amplifier's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Ventilation: Ensure the heatsink fins remain clear of dust and debris to maintain proper cooling.
- Connections: Occasionally check all power, ground, and speaker connections to ensure they remain tight and free of corrosion.
