1. Introduction
This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Sunco T8 LED Bulbs. These 4-foot (48-inch) LED tube lights are designed as a versatile replacement for traditional fluorescent tubes, offering a Hybrid Type A+B functionality. This means they can operate either with an existing fluorescent ballast (Type A) or by bypassing the ballast and wiring directly (Type B).
The bulbs provide 2400 lumens of 5000K Daylight illumination while consuming 20 watts of power. They feature a clear lens and are ETL certified for safety and performance.
2. Safety Information
- Always turn off power at the circuit breaker before installation, removal, or maintenance.
- Do not attempt to modify the bulb or its components.
- Ensure the fixture is properly grounded.
- These bulbs are non-dimmable. Do not use with dimmer switches.
- Suitable for indoor use and damp locations. Not intended for direct exposure to water.
- If you are unsure about electrical wiring, consult a qualified electrician.

5. Installation
The Sunco T8 LED bulbs offer two installation methods: Type A (Plug-and-Play with existing ballast) or Type B (Ballast Bypass). Always ensure power is OFF at the circuit breaker before beginning installation.
5.1. Type A: Plug-and-Play (Ballast Compatible)
This method allows for direct replacement of existing fluorescent tubes without rewiring the fixture, provided the existing electronic ballast is compatible. Refer to the compatible ballast list below or consult Sunco Lighting for compatibility.
- Turn off power to the fixture at the circuit breaker.
- Remove the existing fluorescent tube(s) from the fixture.
- Insert the Sunco T8 LED bulb into the fixture, ensuring it is securely seated in the lampholders.
- Restore power at the circuit breaker and test the light.
5.2. Type B: Ballast Bypass (Direct Wire)
This method requires bypassing or removing the existing fluorescent ballast and wiring the fixture directly to the main power supply. This can be done with either single-ended or double-ended wiring configurations.
- Turn off power to the fixture at the circuit breaker.
- Remove the existing fluorescent tube(s) and the ballast from the fixture.
- For Single-Ended Wiring: Connect the live (L) and neutral (N) wires from the main power supply to the designated pins on one end of the fixture's lampholder. The other end of the fixture's lampholder will not be wired.
- For Double-Ended Wiring: Connect the live (L) wire from the main power supply to the lampholders on one end of the fixture, and the neutral (N) wire to the lampholders on the opposite end.
- Insert the Sunco T8 LED bulb into the rewired fixture, ensuring it is securely seated.
- Restore power at the circuit breaker and test the light.

5.3. Compatible Ballast List (for Type A Installation)
For Type A (Plug-and-Play) installation, ensure your existing ballast is compatible. Below is a list of some compatible ballasts. If your ballast is not listed, please contact Sunco Lighting support.

6. Operating Instructions
Once installed, the Sunco T8 LED bulbs operate like standard light fixtures. Simply use the wall switch or fixture switch to turn the lights on or off.
- These bulbs are non-dimmable and will provide consistent full brightness when powered on.
- The 160-degree beam angle ensures uniform and expansive lighting.

7. Maintenance
Sunco T8 LED bulbs are designed for long-lasting performance with minimal maintenance.
- Cleaning: Ensure power is off before cleaning. Wipe the bulbs with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
- Replacement: With an average lifespan of 50,000 hours, frequent replacement is not typically required. If a bulb needs replacement, follow the installation steps (Section 5) in reverse for removal, and then install a new bulb.

8. Troubleshooting
If your Sunco T8 LED bulb is not functioning as expected, consider the following:
- No Light:
- Check if the power supply to the fixture is active.
- Ensure the bulb is correctly seated in the lampholders.
- If using Type A (Plug-and-Play), verify the existing ballast is compatible and functioning correctly. Try installing a known working fluorescent tube to check the ballast.
- If using Type B (Ballast Bypass), confirm the wiring is correct (single-ended or double-ended) and secure.
- Flickering:
- Ensure the bulb is fully inserted and making proper contact.
- If using Type A, an incompatible or failing ballast can cause flickering. Consider bypassing the ballast (Type B installation) or replacing the ballast.
- Partial Illumination:
- This is rare for LED tubes. Re-seat the bulb. If the issue persists, the bulb may be faulty.
If troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, please contact Sunco Lighting customer support.
