Setup
The MS108GP is an unmanaged switch, designed for straightforward installation. No complex configuration is required.
1. Power Connection:
Connect the provided power adapter to the power input port on the rear panel of the switch and then to a power outlet. The Power LED on the front panel will illuminate, indicating the switch is powered on.

2. Network Connection:
Connect your network devices (e.g., computers, network printers, IP cameras, VoIP phones) to any of the 8 RJ45 ports using standard Ethernet cables. For PoE-powered devices, connect them to ports 1-7. The corresponding Link/Act LEDs will light up when a valid connection is established.
The switch can be placed on a desktop or mounted on a wall using the integrated mounting slots on the bottom panel.
Operating Modes
The MS108GP features two special operating modes controlled by switches on the rear panel: Isolation Mode and Extend Mode.
Isolation Mode:
When Isolation Mode is ON, ports 1-7 are isolated from each other and can only communicate with the uplink port (Port 8). This prevents broadcast storms and enhances network security by isolating traffic between specific ports. When OFF, all ports can transmit data with each other.

Extend Mode:
When Extend Mode is ON, the PoE transmission distance for ports 1-4 or 1-7 (depending on the switch setting) is increased up to 250 meters. In this mode, the data rate for these extended ports is limited to 10 Mbps. When OFF, all ports operate at full Gigabit speed (1000 Mbps) but with standard Ethernet distance limitations (100 meters).

Power over Ethernet (PoE)
The MS108GP simplifies network deployment by providing power and data over a single Ethernet cable to compatible PoE-powered devices (PDs). This eliminates the need for separate power outlets for devices like IP cameras, VoIP phones, and wireless access points.

The switch supports the IEEE 802.3af/at PoE+ standards, delivering up to 30W of power per port on ports 1-7, with a total power budget of 65W for all PoE ports combined. This ensures sufficient power for a wide range of PoE devices.

Maintenance
To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your MS108GP switch, consider the following maintenance tips:
- Placement: Place the switch in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive dust. Ensure adequate ventilation around the device.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the switch. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol sprays.
- Cable Management: Keep network cables organized and untangled to prevent damage and ensure proper airflow.
- Firmware Updates: While this is an unmanaged switch, periodically check the manufacturer's website for any available firmware updates that might improve performance or address issues.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your MS108GP switch, try the following troubleshooting steps:
- No Power: Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to the switch and a working power outlet. Check if the Power LED is illuminated.
- No Link/Activity LED: Verify that the Ethernet cable is securely connected to both the switch port and the network device. Try a different cable or port. Ensure the connected device is powered on and functioning correctly.
- PoE Device Not Powering On: Confirm that the PoE-powered device is IEEE 802.3af/at compliant. Check the PoE status LED for the specific port. Ensure the total power consumption of all connected PoE devices does not exceed the 65W PoE budget.
- Slow Network Speed: If using Extend Mode, remember that the data rate is limited to 10 Mbps. If full Gigabit speed is required, ensure Extend Mode is OFF. Check for faulty cables or congested network traffic.
- Network Communication Issues (Isolation Mode): If devices on ports 1-7 cannot communicate with each other, verify if Isolation Mode is ON. If peer-to-peer communication is desired, switch Isolation Mode to OFF.
