HOKOILN Motion Sensor Closet Lights Model 5833 User Manual

1. Overview

The HOKOILN Motion Sensor Closet Lights (Model 5833) are battery-operated LED light bars designed to provide automatic illumination in dark or low-light environments. Featuring PIR motion sensing technology, these lights detect human movement within a 10ft/120° range and activate automatically, turning off after 15-20 seconds of no movement to conserve battery life. Constructed from anodized aircraft-grade aluminum, they offer durability and efficient heat dissipation. These versatile lights are suitable for various indoor applications such as closets, cabinets, kitchens, bedrooms, hallways, stairs, basements, and wardrobes.

4. Setup

The HOKOILN Motion Sensor Closet Lights are designed for quick and easy installation without the need for tools or screws. Follow these steps for proper setup:

  1. Insert Batteries: Open the battery compartment at one end of the light bar. Insert 4 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity as indicated inside the compartment. Close the compartment securely.
  2. Prepare Surface: Choose a clean, dry, and flat surface for installation. Wipe the surface thoroughly to ensure optimal adhesion.
  3. Attach Magnetic Strip: Peel off the protective backing from the adhesive side of the magnetic mounting strip. Press the strip firmly onto the chosen surface.
  4. Mount Light: Align the light bar with the magnetic strip on the surface. The light will snap into place magnetically.

5. Operating

The HOKOILN Motion Sensor Closet Lights feature a built-in PIR (Passive Infrared) motion sensor and a light sensor for automatic operation.

Automatic Mode

In dark or low-light conditions, the light will automatically turn on when human motion is detected within a 10ft/120° range. It will remain on as long as motion is detected and will turn off approximately 15-20 seconds after motion ceases. To conserve battery life, the light will not activate if there is sufficient ambient brightness.

This image explains the light's automatic operation: it stays off during daylight, turns on when motion is detected at night, and automatically turns off after 20 seconds of no activity.

6. Maintenance

Battery Replacement

When the light output diminishes or the light fails to activate, it is time to replace the batteries. Gently slide open the battery compartment cover, remove the old AAA batteries, and insert new ones, observing the correct polarity. Close the compartment securely.

Cleaning

Wipe the light bar with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the unit in water.

7. Troubleshooting

Light does not turn on:

  • Check if the batteries are inserted correctly with the right polarity.
  • Ensure the batteries are not depleted. Replace with fresh AAA batteries if necessary.
  • Verify that the environment is dark enough for the motion sensor to activate. The light will not turn on in bright conditions.

Light turns off too quickly or stays on too long:

  • The light is designed to turn off 15-20 seconds after motion stops. If it's turning off sooner, ensure there's continuous motion within the sensor's range.
  • If the light stays on continuously, check for constant motion in the detection area or ensure the light sensor is not obstructed, tricking it into thinking it's always dark.

Adhesive not holding:

  • Ensure the surface was clean, dry, and flat before application.
  • For rough or uneven surfaces, consider using stronger adhesive tape or alternative mounting methods.

Short battery life:

  • Frequent activation in high-traffic areas can drain batteries quickly. Consider placement in less frequently used areas if battery life is a concern.
  • Use high-quality AAA batteries for optimal performance and longevity.
