Introduction

The Google Pixel Fold is the first foldable smartphone engineered by Google, designed to offer both the compact form factor of a traditional phone and the expansive display of a tablet. Powered by the Google Tensor G2 chip, it delivers robust performance for entertainment, productivity, and advanced photography. Setup

  1. Insert SIM Card: Locate the SIM tray on the side of your Pixel Fold. Use the provided SIM tool to eject the tray. Place your Nano-SIM card into the tray with the gold contacts facing down, then reinsert the tray firmly into the device.
  2. Charge the Device: Connect the USB-C cable to the Pixel Fold's charging port and the other end to a compatible USB-C power adapter (sold separately). Charge the device until it is fully powered.
  3. Power On: Press and hold the power button (located on the side) until the Google logo appears. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the initial setup, including connecting to Wi-Fi, signing in to your Google account, and transferring data from a previous device using the Quick Switch Adapter.

Operating Your Pixel Fold

Folding and Unfolding

The Pixel Fold is designed for seamless transition between its folded and unfolded states. When folded, it functions as a compact smartphone with a 5.8-inch outer display. Unfold the device to reveal the large 7.6-inch immersive inner display, ideal for enhanced viewing and productivity.

Multitasking with Split Screen

Leverage the large inner display for efficient multitasking. Use the Split Screen feature to run two compatible applications side-by-side. Simply drag two apps from the taskbar to open them simultaneously, or open two tabs in Chrome for easy comparison and navigation.

Camera Features

The Pixel Fold features a versatile triple rear camera system and Google Tensor G2's advanced image processing. Capture high-quality photos and videos, including brilliant rear camera selfies by using the outer display as a viewfinder. The foldable design also allows for hands-free photography and video recording by propping the device on a surface.

Battery Life

The Pixel Fold is equipped with an Adaptive Battery designed to last over 24 hours on a single charge. For extended usage, enable Extreme Battery Saver to achieve up to 72 hours of power.

Security Features

The Pixel Fold prioritizes your security with features like VPN by Google One to protect your online activity and a fingerprint unlock sensor for secure access to your device.

Durability

The Pixel Fold is built with a durable design, featuring scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and an IPX8 water-resistant rating with a durable stainless-steel hinge. This provides protection against everyday wear and tear.

Google Tensor G2

The Google Tensor G2 chip is the core of the Pixel Fold's intelligence, making your phone more efficient, improving audio quality on calls, and enabling seamless multitasking and video streaming.

Circle to Search Feature

The Pixel Fold supports the 'Circle to Search' feature, allowing you to quickly search for anything on your screen by simply circling it. This provides a convenient way to get information without leaving your current application.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the device. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
  • Screen Protection: While the outer display is scratch-resistant, consider a screen protector for both displays for added protection against scratches and impacts.
  • Temperature: Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight for prolonged periods, or very humid environments.
  • Handling: Handle the foldable display with care. Avoid applying excessive pressure to the screen, especially near the hinge area.

Troubleshooting

  • Device Unresponsive: If your Pixel Fold becomes unresponsive, press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds to force a restart.
  • Connectivity Issues: For Wi-Fi or cellular network problems, try toggling Airplane Mode on and off. If issues persist, restart your device or contact your carrier.
  • App Malfunctions: If an app is not working correctly, try clearing its cache and data in the device settings, or uninstall and reinstall the app.
  • Battery Drain: Check battery usage in settings to identify apps consuming excessive power. Adjust settings like screen brightness or background app refresh to optimize battery life.
  • Display Issues: If you experience issues with the display, ensure the device is clean and free of debris. If problems persist, contact Google Support.
