Setup and Installation

1. Mounting the Camera

The camera is designed for ceiling mount installation. Ensure the mounting surface is strong enough to support the camera's weight.

  1. Choose a suitable location for optimal surveillance coverage, considering the 98-foot IR range for night vision.
  2. Use the provided mounting template (if available) or the camera base to mark drill holes on the mounting surface.
  3. Drill pilot holes and insert wall anchors if necessary.
  4. Route the Ethernet cable through the mounting surface or a conduit.
  5. Secure the camera base to the mounting surface using the provided screws.
  6. Adjust the camera's angle and orientation as needed.

2. Power and Network Connection

The camera supports two power options: Power over Ethernet (PoE) or a 12VDC power adapter (not included).

  • PoE Connection: Connect an Ethernet cable from a PoE-enabled switch or NVR to the camera's RJ45 port. This provides both power and data.
  • 12VDC Connection: If not using PoE, connect a 12VDC power adapter (minimum 1A, center positive) to the camera's power input jack. Then, connect an Ethernet cable from your network to the camera's RJ45 port for data.
  • Ensure the Ethernet cable is properly connected and secured, especially if using the waterproof connector for outdoor installations.

Operation

1. Initial Access and Network Configuration

After connecting the camera to your network, you will need to discover and configure it using a compatible NVR or IP camera management software.

  • Use the manufacturer's IP camera tool or your NVR's discovery function to find the camera on the network.
  • The camera will likely have a default IP address or obtain one via DHCP. You may need to change its IP address to a static one within your network's range.
  • Access the camera's web interface via a web browser using its IP address. Log in with the default username and password (refer to the Quick Start Guide or manufacturer's documentation for defaults).
  • It is highly recommended to change the default password immediately for security purposes.

2. Video Settings

Configure video parameters through the camera's web interface or NVR settings:

  • Resolution: Set to 2880 x 1620 (5MP) for maximum clarity, or lower for reduced bandwidth/storage.
  • Frame Rate: Up to 30FPS for smooth video.
  • Encoding: Select H.265 for efficient compression, H.264 for broader compatibility, or MJPEG.
  • WDR (Wide Dynamic Range): Enable for scenes with high contrast (e.g., bright background, dark foreground).
  • 3DNR (Digital Noise Reduction): Enable to reduce video noise in low-light conditions.
  • Day/Night Mode: Configure automatic switching or manual control for the True Day & Night function with ICR module. Adjust ICR sensitivity as needed.
  • Corridor Mode: If monitoring a vertical area, enable corridor mode to optimize the aspect ratio.

3. Smart IR Configuration

The camera features Smart IR technology to prevent overexposure of objects close to the camera in low light.

  • Smart IR automatically adjusts the intensity of the infrared LEDs based on the distance of objects in the field of view.
  • Ensure Smart IR is enabled in the camera settings for optimal night vision performance up to 98 feet.

4. AI Functions

The camera includes advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) features for enhanced surveillance and event detection:

  • Face Detection: Detects human faces within the camera's view.
  • Human & Vehicle Detection: Differentiates between humans, vehicles, and other motion.
  • Perimeter Intrusion Detection: Triggers an alert when an object crosses a predefined virtual boundary.
  • Line Crossing Detection: Detects objects crossing a specific virtual line.
  • Stationary Object Detection: Identifies objects that remain in a specific area for a set duration.
  • Cross Counting: Counts objects crossing a virtual line in a specified direction.
  • Heat Map: Visualizes areas of high activity over time.
  • Crowd Density Detection: Estimates the number of people in a designated area.
  • Queue Length Detection: Monitors the length of queues in specific zones.

Refer to the camera's web interface or NVR manual for detailed configuration of each AI function, including setting detection zones, sensitivity, and alert actions.

5. MicroSD Card Storage

The camera supports a MicroSD card up to 512GB for local video storage.

  • To install, carefully open the camera housing (if accessible) and insert the MicroSD card into the designated slot.
  • Format the MicroSD card through the camera's web interface before use.
  • Configure recording schedules and event-triggered recording to the MicroSD card as desired.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning

  • Regularly clean the camera lens and housing with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and dirt.
  • Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the lens coating or housing.

2. Firmware Updates

  • Check the Seco-Larm website periodically for firmware updates.
  • Firmware updates can improve performance, add new features, or address security vulnerabilities.
  • Follow the instructions provided with the firmware update package carefully.

3. Environmental Considerations

  • While the camera is IP66 weatherproof, ensure proper drainage around the mounting area to prevent water accumulation.
  • Avoid mounting the camera in direct sunlight for prolonged periods if possible, as this can affect image quality and component lifespan.
