2. Safety Information
WARNING: Read and understand all safety precautions before operating this generator. Failure to follow these instructions can result in serious injury or death.
- Carbon Monoxide Hazard: Generators produce carbon monoxide, an odorless, colorless, poisonous gas. Operate generators outdoors only, far away from windows, doors, and vents.
- Electrical Shock Hazard: Do not operate the generator in wet conditions. Ensure all electrical connections are dry and secure.
- Fire Hazard: Fuel is highly flammable. Do not refuel while the engine is running or hot. Store fuel in approved containers in a well-ventilated area.
- Hot Surfaces: The generator's engine and muffler become very hot during operation and remain hot for some time after shutdown. Avoid contact.
- COsense Technology: This generator is equipped with COsense Technology, which automatically shuts down the generator if hazardous levels of carbon monoxide are detected. Do not disable or bypass this safety feature.
3. Setup and Assembly
3.1 Unpacking
Carefully remove the generator and all components from the packaging. Verify that all items listed in the packing list are present and undamaged. Retain packaging for future storage or transport.
3.2 Adding Engine Oil
The generator is shipped without engine oil. Before first use, add the recommended type and amount of oil. Refer to the engine oil specifications section for details.
- Place the generator on a level surface.
- Locate the oil fill cap/dipstick.
- Remove the cap and slowly pour the recommended oil into the engine until it reaches the full mark on the dipstick. Do not overfill.
- Securely replace the oil fill cap.
3.3 Adding Fuel
Use only fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Do not use E85 or any other fuel containing more than 10% ethanol.
- Ensure the generator is turned off and cool.
- Open the fuel cap.
- Slowly add gasoline to the fuel tank, being careful not to overfill. Leave space for fuel expansion.
- Securely replace the fuel cap.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Starting the Generator
- Place the generator on a firm, level surface outdoors, away from any structures or vents.
- Ensure the fuel valve is in the "ON" position.
- Move the choke lever to the "CHOKE" position (if engine is cold).
- Turn the engine switch to the "ON" position.
- Pull the recoil starter handle firmly until the engine starts.
- Once the engine starts, slowly move the choke lever to the "RUN" position.
4.2 Connecting Electrical Devices
Once the generator is running smoothly, you can connect your electrical devices. Ensure the total wattage of connected devices does not exceed the generator's running wattage.
- Plug devices directly into the generator's outlets.
- For sensitive electronics, ensure the generator is in "Economy Mode" if available, or that the TruePower Technology is active for clean power.
- Do not overload the generator. Overload indicators will illuminate if the generator is overloaded.

Figure 4: Key features of the GP2500i. This image points out the quiet operation due to its fully enclosed design, the inclusion of USB ports for charging mobile devices, and its parallel-ready capability for connecting two units for increased power output (parallel kit sold separately).
4.3 Stopping the Generator
- Disconnect all electrical devices from the generator.
- Turn the engine switch to the "OFF" position.
- Turn the fuel valve to the "OFF" position.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of your generator. Always ensure the generator is off and cool before performing any maintenance.
5.1 Engine Oil Check/Change
- Check oil level before each use.
- Change oil after the first 20 hours of operation, then every 100 hours or annually, whichever comes first.
5.2 Air Filter Cleaning
- Inspect the air filter every 50 hours or monthly.
- Clean or replace if dirty.
5.3 Spark Plug Inspection
- Inspect the spark plug every 100 hours or annually.
- Clean or replace if necessary.
5.4 Storage
For extended storage, drain the fuel tank and carburetor, or add a fuel stabilizer. Store the generator in a clean, dry place.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Engine will not start | No fuel; Low oil level; Choke not set correctly; Spark plug issue; Engine switch OFF | Add fuel; Add oil; Adjust choke; Inspect/replace spark plug; Turn engine switch ON |
| No power output | Overload; Circuit breaker tripped; Device faulty | Reduce load; Reset circuit breaker; Check device |
| Engine runs rough | Stale fuel; Dirty air filter; Spark plug issue | Drain and refill with fresh fuel; Clean/replace air filter; Inspect/replace spark plug |
| COsense shutdown | High carbon monoxide levels detected | Move generator to a well-ventilated outdoor area. Allow to clear before restarting. |
