Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your coffee machine.
Daily Cleaning
- Always unplug the appliance and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Remove the filter basket and discard the used coffee grounds and paper filter.
- Wash the AromaCarafe, its lid, and the filter basket in warm, soapy water. These parts are also dishwasher-safe (top rack recommended).
- Wipe the exterior of the coffee machine, including the warming plate, with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- Dry all parts thoroughly before reassembling.
Descaling
Mineral deposits (limescale) can build up in your coffee machine over time, affecting performance and coffee taste. Descale your machine regularly, depending on water hardness and frequency of use (e.g., every 2-4 months).
- Prepare a descaling solution according to the descaler manufacturer's instructions, or use a mixture of white vinegar and water (e.g., 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water).
- Pour the descaling solution into the water tank.
- Place an empty paper filter in the filter basket and the empty AromaCarafe on the warming plate.
- Start a brewing cycle. Allow half of the solution to brew through, then turn off the machine and let it stand for 15-20 minutes to allow the solution to work.
- Turn the machine back on and allow the remaining solution to brew through.
- Discard the solution and rinse the AromaCarafe and filter basket.
- Run at least two full cycles with fresh, cold water only to thoroughly rinse the machine and remove any residual descaling solution taste.
