5.2 Specific Measurement Functions

Connect the test leads to the appropriate input jacks on the multimeter (COM for black lead, VΩmA for red lead for most measurements, or 10A for high current measurements).

Examples of AC voltage, DC voltage, resistance, and diode measurements using the ANENG SZ02 Multimeter

Image 5.2: Demonstrations of various measurement types including AC voltage, DC voltage, resistance, and diode testing.

5.2.1 AC/DC Voltage Measurement

Turn the rotary switch to the V~ (AC Voltage) or V- (DC Voltage) position. Connect the test leads in parallel to the circuit or component to be measured. The display will show the voltage reading.

5.2.2 AC/DC Current Measurement

Turn the rotary switch to the A~ (AC Current) or A- (DC Current) position. For currents up to 10A, insert the red test lead into the 10A jack. For lower currents, use the VΩmA jack. Connect the multimeter in series with the circuit. Ensure the circuit is de-energized before connecting the meter in series.

5.2.3 Resistance Measurement

Turn the rotary switch to the Ω position. Connect the test leads across the component to measure its resistance. Ensure the circuit is de-energized before measuring resistance.

5.2.4 Capacitance Measurement

Turn the rotary switch to the capacitance (F) position. Connect the test leads across the capacitor. Ensure the capacitor is fully discharged before measurement.

5.2.5 Frequency Measurement (Hz)

Turn the rotary switch to the Hz position. Connect the test leads to the signal source to measure its frequency.

5.2.6 Temperature Measurement

Turn the rotary switch to the °C/°F position. Use the included temperature probe (if applicable) and connect it to the appropriate jacks to measure temperature.

5.2.7 Diode Test

Turn the rotary switch to the diode symbol position. Connect the red lead to the anode and the black lead to the cathode of the diode. The display will show the forward voltage drop. Reverse the leads to check for open circuit (OL) indication.

5.2.8 Continuity Test

Turn the rotary switch to the continuity symbol position. Connect the test leads across the circuit or component. If resistance is below a certain threshold (typically 50Ω), the buzzer will sound, indicating continuity.

5.2.9 NCV (Non-Contact Voltage) Detection

Press the NCV button. Place the NCV sensor at the top of the multimeter near the conductor. If AC voltage above 90V is detected, the meter will beep and the analog bar on the LCD will indicate the signal strength. This function is for preliminary detection and does not replace direct contact measurement for accuracy.

5.2.10 Live Wire Detection (Zero FireWire)

Adjust the multimeter to the 'Live' gear. Insert the red test pen into the rightmost socket. Carefully touch the test pen to the wire. If the screen turns red, the arrow signal is full, and the buzzer sounds, it indicates a live wire. If the screen does not turn red, there is no signal, and no beeping sound, it indicates a zero line.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

Wipe the meter with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents. Keep the input terminals free from dirt and moisture.

6.2 Battery Replacement

When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace the batteries as described in Section 4.2. Remove batteries if the meter is not used for an extended period.

6.3 Fuse Replacement

The ANENG SZ02 has an internal overload protection fuse. If the current measurement function stops working, the fuse may need replacement. Fuse replacement should only be performed by qualified personnel. Refer to the specifications for the correct fuse type.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Meter does not power on: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are not depleted.
  • No reading or 'OL' displayed: Ensure test leads are correctly connected and making good contact. For resistance/continuity, ensure the circuit is de-energized. 'OL' (Overload) may indicate the measured value exceeds the meter's range.
  • Inaccurate readings: Check battery level. Ensure correct function and range are selected. Verify test leads are not damaged.
  • Current measurement not working: The internal fuse may be blown. Refer to fuse replacement instructions.
