4. Setup Guide
4.1. Insert Hard Drives
Ensure the docking station is powered off. Gently insert your 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SATA HDD/SSD into the appropriate bay(s) until it is firmly seated. The tool-free design allows for easy insertion and removal.
4.2. Connect Power Adapter
Connect the provided 12V/3A power adapter to the DC IN port on the back of the docking station, then plug the adapter into a power outlet.
4.3. Connect to Computer
Use the included 2-in-1 USB-C to USB-A/C data cable to connect the docking station's USB port to an available USB port on your computer (PC, laptop, etc.).
4.4. Power On
Press the ON/OFF button on the docking station to power it on. The blue LED indicator will illuminate, indicating the device is powered on and ready for use. Your operating system should automatically detect the connected hard drives.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Accessing Drives
Once connected and powered on, the inserted hard drives will appear as removable storage devices in your computer's file explorer (Windows) or Finder (macOS). You can then drag and drop files, copy, paste, or perform any other file management operations.
5.2. LED Indicators
Refer to Figure 3.6 for a detailed explanation of the LED indicators:
- Blue Light ON: Indicates the docking station is powered on.
- Blue Light ON (per bay): Indicates the data cable is connected and the bay is ready for reading.
- Blue/Red Light Flash: Indicates data is being read from or written to the hard drive.
5.3. Auto Sleep Mode
The docking station will automatically enter sleep mode after 10 minutes of inactivity (no data transfer). This feature helps conserve energy and prolong the lifespan of your hard drives. The device will wake up automatically upon data access.
5.4. Safely Remove Hardware
Before disconnecting the docking station or removing hard drives, always safely eject the drives from your operating system to prevent data corruption. For Windows, use the "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" icon in the taskbar. For macOS, drag the drive icon to the Trash or use the Eject option.
6. Maintenance
- Keep the docking station clean by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents.
- Ensure the dust shield is properly in place to prevent dust accumulation in the SATA interfaces.
- Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Do not block the ventilation holes on the device to ensure proper heat dissipation.
7. Troubleshooting
7.1. Drive Not Recognized
- Ensure the hard drive is properly seated in the bay.
- Verify the power adapter is securely connected and the docking station is powered on (blue LED).
- Check the USB data cable connection to both the docking station and the computer. Try a different USB port on your computer.
- For new drives, they may need to be initialized and formatted in Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (macOS) before they appear in File Explorer/Finder.
- Try restarting your computer.
7.2. Slow Transfer Speeds
- Ensure you are connected to a USB 3.0 (or higher) port on your computer. USB 2.0 ports will result in significantly slower speeds.
- Verify that UASP is enabled by your operating system (usually automatic with compatible hardware).
- The actual transfer speed depends on the speed of your hard drive/SSD. Older HDDs will naturally be slower than SSDs.
- Avoid transferring many small files simultaneously, as this can reduce overall transfer speed.
7.3. Docking Station Not Powering On
- Ensure the power adapter is correctly plugged into a working power outlet and the docking station.
- Press the ON/OFF button firmly.
- Try a different power outlet.
