  • Drill
  • Spirit level
  • Measuring tape
  • Screwdriver
  • Sealant tape (PTFE tape)

Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare the Installation Area: Turn off the main water supply. Remove any existing shower fixtures. Clean the wall surface.
  2. Install the Thermostatic Mixer: Apply sealant tape to the threads of the eccentric connectors. Screw the eccentric connectors into the wall outlets, ensuring they are level and at the correct distance (standard 150mm). Attach the thermostatic mixer to the eccentric connectors, tightening securely with an adjustable wrench. Ensure gaskets are properly seated.
  3. Mount the Shower Rail: Determine the desired height for the shower rail. Mark the drilling points on the wall using a spirit level. Drill holes, insert wall plugs, and secure the shower rail brackets with screws. Attach the shower rail to the brackets.
  4. Attach Shower Heads: Connect the overhead rain shower head to the shower arm. Connect the shower hose to the hand shower and the outlet on the thermostatic mixer. Place the hand shower in its adjustable holder on the rail.
  5. Final Checks: Turn on the main water supply slowly. Check all connections for leaks. Test the functionality of the thermostatic mixer and both shower heads.

5. Operation

Operating your BERNSTEIN 4011 BASIC shower system is straightforward:

  • Water Flow Control: The left knob typically controls the water flow and diverts water between the overhead shower and the hand shower. Turn it to increase/decrease flow or select your desired outlet.
  • Temperature Control: The right knob controls the water temperature. Rotate it to adjust the temperature. The safety stop at 38°C prevents accidental scalding. To exceed 38°C, press the safety button and continue turning the knob.
  • Hand Shower Spray Patterns: The hand shower features multiple spray patterns. Rotate the spray plate on the hand shower head to cycle through the available patterns.
  • Hand Shower Height/Angle: The hand shower holder can be adjusted up or down the shower rail and tilted to your preferred angle.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your shower system.

  • General Cleaning: Clean the surfaces with a soft cloth and mild soap or a non-abrasive bathroom cleaner. Rinse thoroughly with water and dry with a soft cloth to prevent water spots.
  • Avoid Harsh Cleaners: Do not use abrasive sponges, scouring pads, or cleaners containing alcohol, ammonia, bleach, or phosphoric acid, as these can damage the finish.
  • Limescale Removal: For limescale deposits on shower heads, gently rub the silicone nozzles to dislodge scale. For stubborn deposits, use a descaling solution specifically designed for bathroom fixtures, following the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Thermostatic Cartridge: If temperature control becomes erratic, the thermostatic cartridge may need cleaning or replacement. This should be done by a qualified professional.
