User Manual

1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the EUROPLAST Ø 150mm Decentralized Heat Recovery Ventilation System. This unit is designed to provide continuous fresh air while recovering heat from outgoing air, ensuring optimal indoor air quality and significant energy savings. With its autonomous 24/7 operation, it requires minimal intervention, making it an efficient solution for both residential and commercial applications.

The system operates through a two-step process, each lasting 70 seconds, to efficiently extract stale air and supply preheated fresh air into your space.

2. Safety Instructions

Please read all safety instructions carefully before installation and operation. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.

  • Ensure the power supply is disconnected before any installation, maintenance, or cleaning.
  • Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician or a competent person in accordance with local electrical codes and regulations.
  • Do not operate the unit with a damaged power cord or plug.
  • Keep hands and objects away from moving parts during operation.
  • Do not block the air inlets or outlets.
  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

3. Product Components

The EUROPLAST Heat Recovery Ventilation System includes the following main components:

  • Telescopic Air Duct: Adjustable length (300-555mm) with an outer diameter of 156mm for through-wall installation.
  • Ventilation Grille: Designed to integrate seamlessly with interior aesthetics, providing an outlet for air circulation.
  • Ceramic Heat Exchanger: An efficient component capable of up to 90% heat recovery.
  • EU1 Class Filters: Two washable filters ensure clean air by capturing dust and particles.
  • Axial Fan: A powerful fan for efficient air extraction and fresh air supply.
  • Cable and Cord Switch: For easy power connection and On/Off control.
  • Screws and Dowels: For secure wall mounting.

4. Installation Guide

The installation process is designed to be straightforward, but correct measurements and adherence to safety guidelines are crucial.

  1. Select Location: Choose a suitable wall location, ideally in a room requiring ventilation, such as a bathroom, kitchen, or living area. Ensure there is sufficient space for the unit and access for maintenance.
  2. Measure and Drill: Accurately measure the wall thickness. The telescopic duct is adjustable from 300mm to 555mm. Drill a hole with a diameter of 156mm through the wall. Correct measurements are essential for proper installation.
  3. Insert Duct: Insert the telescopic air duct into the drilled hole. Adjust its length to fit the wall thickness.
  4. Install Components: Place the ceramic heat exchanger and filters inside the duct. Position the axial fan and connect it to the interior grille.
  5. Secure Unit: Mount the interior and exterior grilles securely to the wall using the provided screws and dowels. Ensure a tight seal to prevent air leakage. The use of expansion foam around the duct is recommended for optimal sealing and insulation.
  6. Electrical Connection: Connect the unit's cable to a suitable power source (240 Volts). A qualified electrician is recommended for wiring to ensure compliance with electrical safety standards. The unit comes with a cable and a cord switch for convenience.
  7. Final Check: Once installed, ensure all connections are secure and the unit is properly sealed.

5. Operating Instructions

The EUROPLAST ventilation unit is designed for autonomous, continuous operation to maintain optimal indoor air quality.

  • Power On/Off: Use the integrated pull cord switch to turn the unit On or Off.
  • Operating Cycle: The unit operates in a two-step cycle, each lasting approximately 70 seconds:
    1. Step 1 (Extraction): The fan extracts stale, warm air from the room. As the air passes through the ceramic heat exchanger, the ceramic material absorbs heat.
    2. Step 2 (Supply): After 70 seconds, the fan reverses direction, drawing fresh, cooler air from outside. This incoming air passes through the preheated ceramic exchanger, recovering heat and supplying preheated fresh air into the room.
  • Speed Settings: The unit features 3 power levels. The cord switch typically cycles through these speeds with multiple pulls. Refer to the specifications for airflow and noise levels at different speeds.
  • Continuous Operation: For best results and consistent air quality, allow the unit to operate continuously 24/7.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your ventilation system. Always disconnect power before performing any maintenance.

  • Filter Cleaning: The unit is equipped with two washable EU1 class filters. It is recommended to clean these filters every 1-3 months, depending on air quality and usage.
  • Cleaning Procedure:
    1. Carefully remove the interior grille and then the filters.
    2. Wash the filters with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and allow them to air dry completely before reinstallation.
    3. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials for cleaning.
  • Heat Exchanger Cleaning: Periodically inspect the ceramic heat exchanger for dust buildup. If necessary, carefully remove and clean it according to manufacturer guidelines (e.g., gentle brushing or vacuuming).
  • Exterior Grille: Clean the exterior grille as needed to ensure unobstructed airflow.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your EUROPLAST ventilation system, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Unit does not turn on No power supply; Faulty cord switch; Loose electrical connection. Check power outlet and circuit breaker. Ensure cord switch is pulled correctly. Verify electrical connections (consult an electrician if unsure).
Low airflow or poor ventilation Clogged filters; Blocked air ducts/grilles; Fan malfunction. Clean or replace filters. Check and clear any obstructions in ducts or grilles. If fan is faulty, contact support.
Unit is too noisy Operating at high speed; Loose components; Fan imbalance. Reduce fan speed (e.g., operate at speed 1 for quieter performance). Check for any loose parts and secure them. If noise persists, contact support.
No heat recovery / Cold air intake Ceramic heat exchanger is dirty or damaged; Unit not cycling correctly. Clean the ceramic heat exchanger. Observe if the unit is performing both extraction and supply cycles. If not, contact support.

If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, please contact EUROPLAST customer support.
