1. Introduction
The Ortis Refrigerator Surge Protector HRSP-01Y is designed to safeguard your valuable home appliances, particularly refrigerators, from various electrical abnormalities. This device offers protection against high and low voltage, power spikes, instant surges, power failures, voltage fluctuations, brownouts, and load shedding. By regulating the power supply and introducing a time delay after power restoration, it helps to extend the lifespan of your appliances and prevent costly damage.

2. Safety Information
- Read all instructions before using the device.
- Do not disassemble or modify the surge protector.
- Ensure the wall outlet and appliance plug are in good condition before connection.
- Do not exceed the maximum current rating of 15 Amps.
- This device is intended for indoor use only. Avoid exposure to moisture or extreme temperatures.
- Keep out of reach of children.
3. Product Features
- Professional Surge Protection: Protects against high/low voltage, spikes, instant surges, power failures, voltage fluctuations, brownouts, and load shedding.
- Double Outlets: Features two outlets to protect two appliances simultaneously, such as a refrigerator and a microwave, water cooler, or dishwasher.
- Simple LED Indicators: Clearly displays normal voltage, high voltage (>135VAC), low voltage (<90VAC), and time delay status.
- 3-Minute Delay Function: Automatically re-connects power after a 3-minute delay once voltage stabilizes, preventing damage from rapid power cycling.
- Compact Design: Plug-and-play design that does not obstruct adjacent wall outlets.
- Wide Compatibility: Ideal for refrigerators and domestic freezers up to 27 cu. ft., and other home appliances.

4. Setup Instructions
- Unpack: Carefully remove the Ortis Refrigerator Surge Protector from its packaging.
- Inspect: Check the device for any visible damage. Do not use if damaged.
- Plug In: Insert the surge protector's plug into a standard 3-pin (North American Type B) wall outlet. Ensure it is securely seated.
- Connect Appliances: Plug your refrigerator and/or another compatible appliance into the two outlets on the surge protector. Ensure the appliance plugs are fully inserted.
- Verify: Observe the LED indicators on the surge protector to confirm proper operation (refer to Section 6 for LED indicator details).

5. Operating Instructions
Once connected, the Ortis Refrigerator Surge Protector operates automatically. It continuously monitors the incoming voltage for abnormalities. If the voltage deviates from the safe operating range (below 90VAC or above 135VAC), the device will automatically cut off power to the connected appliances to prevent damage.
When the power supply returns to a stable voltage, the surge protector initiates a 3-minute time delay. This delay is crucial for appliances with compressors, such as refrigerators, allowing internal pressures to equalize before restarting. This prevents stress on the compressor and prolongs its operational life. After the 3-minute delay, if the voltage remains stable, power will be restored to your appliances.

Figure 5: The device responds quickly to voltage abnormalities, typically within 0.5 seconds, to protect connected appliances.
6. LED Indicators
The surge protector features clear LED indicators to display the current voltage status:
- High Voltage (>135VAC) Indicator: Lights up when the incoming voltage exceeds 135VAC. Power to appliances is cut off.
- Low Voltage (<90VAC) Indicator: Lights up when the incoming voltage drops below 90VAC. Power to appliances is cut off.
- Normal Voltage Indicator: Lights up when the incoming voltage is within the safe operating range (90VAC to 135VAC).
- Delay Period Indicator: Lights up during the 3-minute delay period after power restoration or voltage stabilization.

7. Maintenance
The Ortis Refrigerator Surge Protector requires minimal maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure its continued performance:
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the exterior of the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect the surge protector, its cord, and the connected appliance cords for any signs of wear, damage, or overheating.
- Ventilation: Ensure the device is not covered or placed in an area where ventilation is restricted.
- Storage: If storing the device, keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No lights on the surge protector. | No power from the wall outlet. | Check the wall outlet with another device. Check your home's circuit breaker. |
| Appliance not receiving power, "High Voltage" or "Low Voltage" LED is on. | Incoming voltage is outside the safe range. | This is normal operation. The protector is safeguarding your appliance. Power will be restored automatically after 3 minutes once voltage stabilizes. |
| Appliance not receiving power, "Delay Period" LED is on. | The device is in its 3-minute stabilization delay. | Wait for the 3-minute delay to complete. Power will be restored if voltage remains stable. |
| Surge protector frequently cuts power. | Frequent voltage fluctuations in your area. | This indicates the device is working as intended to protect your appliances. If this is a persistent issue, consider contacting your electricity provider. |
| Device appears faulty or damaged. | Internal component failure or physical damage. | Discontinue use immediately. Contact Ortis customer support for assistance. |
