- Installation guide (this document)
4. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps carefully to install your Alphacool Eisblock Aurora water block and backplate.
- Prepare the Graphics Card:
Carefully remove the stock cooler and backplate from your AMD Radeon RX 7900XTX reference graphics card. Clean the GPU die and memory chips thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol to remove any residual thermal paste or pads.
- Apply Thermal Pads:
Apply the provided thermal pads to the designated areas on the graphics card PCB, covering the VRMs, VRAM, and other heat-generating components as indicated in the product diagram. Ensure proper contact and coverage.
- Apply Thermal Compound:
Apply a small amount of Alphacool Subzero thermal compound to the center of the GPU die. A pea-sized amount is typically sufficient. The water block's jet plate design will help spread it evenly upon installation.
- Mount the Water Block:
Carefully align the Alphacool Eisblock Aurora water block with the mounting holes on the graphics card PCB. Gently lower the water block onto the GPU, ensuring even pressure. Secure the water block using the provided screws, tightening them in a diagonal pattern to ensure even contact pressure. Do not overtighten.

- Connect Fittings and Tubing:
Install your G1/4" fittings into the water block ports. Connect your custom loop tubing, ensuring all connections are secure. Perform a leak test for at least 24 hours with the system powered off before powering on your computer.
- Connect RGB Lighting (Optional):
If your water block features digital addressable RGB LEDs, connect the included RGB adapter cable to a compatible motherboard header or RGB controller. Refer to your motherboard manual for proper connection and software control.

5. Operating Guidelines
Once installed and leak-tested, the Alphacool Eisblock Aurora water block operates as part of your custom liquid cooling loop. Ensure your pump is running and coolant is flowing before powering on your graphics card.
- Monitor GPU temperatures using appropriate software to confirm effective cooling.
- Maintain proper coolant levels in your reservoir.
- Adjust fan speeds on your radiators as needed to optimize cooling performance and noise levels.
- The chrome-plated copper design ensures efficient heat transfer and a durable, aesthetically pleasing finish.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your liquid cooling system.
- Coolant Replacement: Replace your coolant every 6-12 months, or as recommended by the coolant manufacturer, to prevent buildup and maintain performance.
- System Flush: Periodically flush your entire loop with distilled water to remove any accumulated debris or old coolant.
- Visual Inspection: Regularly inspect tubing, fittings, and the water block for any signs of leaks, corrosion, or algae growth.
- Cleaning: If necessary, disassemble the water block to clean the micro-fins. Use a soft brush and distilled water. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- High GPU Temperatures:
- Ensure pump is running and coolant is flowing.
- Check for air bubbles trapped in the water block; tilt your system to dislodge them.
- Verify proper application of thermal paste and pads.
- Ensure radiator fans are functioning and oriented correctly.
- Check for blockages in the loop; flush if necessary.
- Leaks:
- Immediately power off the system.
- Identify the source of the leak.
- Tighten fittings or replace faulty O-rings/components.
- Perform a thorough leak test before restarting the system.
- RGB Lighting Not Working:
- Check the connection to the motherboard or RGB controller.
- Ensure the RGB software is installed and configured correctly.
- Verify that the RGB header on your motherboard is enabled in the BIOS.
