1. Product Overview

The iKiKin BT60 is a versatile automotive battery tester designed to analyze the health of 6V, 12V, and 24V batteries used in cars, motorcycles, and trucks. It provides accurate readings for battery voltage, internal resistance, cold cranking amps (CCA), and state of health (SOH), as well as performing cranking and charging system tests.

2. Setup and Connection

Before using the iKiKin BT60, ensure the battery terminals are clean and free of corrosion for accurate readings. The device is powered directly by the battery being tested.

  1. Connect the Red Clamp: Attach the red positive (+) clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the battery.
  2. Connect the Black Clamp: Attach the black negative (-) clamp to the negative (-) terminal of the battery.
  3. The device will power on automatically once connected.

3. Operating Instructions

Navigate the menu using the directional buttons and the 'OK' button. The 'ESC' button returns to the previous screen.

3.1. Battery Test

  1. From the Main Menu, select the appropriate vehicle type (Motorcycle, Car, or Truck).
  2. Select the battery type (e.g., Regular Flooded, AGM Flat Plate, AGM Spiral, GEL, EFB).
  3. Select the measurement standard (e.g., CCA, IEC, EN, DIN, CA, BCI, MCA, SAE).
  4. Input the rated CCA value of your battery (found on the battery label).
  5. Press 'OK' to start the test. The results will display State of Health (SOH), State of Charge (SOC), Voltage, CCA, and Internal Resistance.

3.2. Cranking Test

This test evaluates the battery's ability to start the engine.

  1. From the Main Menu, select 'Cranking Test'.
  2. Follow the on-screen prompts to start the vehicle.
  3. The tester will analyze the cranking voltage and time, providing a result indicating the health of the starting system.

3.3. Charging Test

This test assesses the vehicle's charging system (alternator, regulator, etc.).

  1. From the Main Menu, select 'Charging Test'.
  2. Follow the on-screen prompts, which may include revving the engine to a specified RPM.
  3. The tester will display the charging voltage and ripple, indicating if the charging system is functioning correctly.

4. Maintenance and Care

  • Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the tester in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Cable Care: Avoid bending or twisting the cables excessively. Ensure clamps are clean after each use.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the manufacturer's website for any available firmware updates to ensure optimal performance.

5. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Ensure the clamps are securely connected to the correct battery terminals. Check for corrosion on battery terminals.
  • Inaccurate Readings: Verify that the correct battery type and CCA rating have been entered. Ensure good contact between the clamps and battery terminals.
  • Screen Freezes: Disconnect the device from the battery, wait a few seconds, and reconnect. If the issue persists, contact customer support.
