4.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove all packaging materials. Inspect the appliance for any damage. Report any damage to your retailer immediately.

Choose a location that is dry, well-ventilated, and away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Ensure sufficient space for air circulation around the appliance, as indicated in the dimension diagram (Figure 3.7).

4.3 Electrical Connection

Connect the appliance to a properly grounded electrical outlet with the correct voltage (2.3E+2 Volts). Do not use extension cords or adapters. Allow the appliance to stand upright for at least 4 hours before plugging it in to allow refrigerants to settle.

4.4 Built-In Integration

Follow the specific installation instructions provided with your IKEA kitchen system for integrating the appliance into your cabinetry. Ensure the appliance is level and securely fastened.

5. Operating Instructions

Your IKEA KÖLDGRADER fridge/freezer features an intuitive control panel for easy temperature management.

5.3 Food Storage Guidelines

  • Store raw meat and fish in sealed containers on the lowest shelf of the refrigerator to prevent dripping onto other foods.
  • Keep fruits and vegetables in the crisper drawer (Figure 3.5) to maintain freshness.
  • Ensure all food items are properly sealed to prevent odor transfer and maintain humidity.
  • Do not place hot food directly into the refrigerator or freezer; allow it to cool down first.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and efficient operation of your appliance.

6.1 Cleaning the Interior

Before cleaning, unplug the appliance. Clean the interior regularly with a soft cloth dampened with a solution of lukewarm water and a mild, non-abrasive detergent. Rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly. Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or solvents.

6.2 Cleaning the Exterior

Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. For stubborn stains, use a mild detergent. Ensure the door seals are clean and free of debris to maintain an airtight seal.

6.3 Defrosting

The IKEA KÖLDGRADER features an automatic defrost system for the refrigerator compartment. The freezer compartment also has an automatic defrost function, minimizing the need for manual defrosting. If excessive ice buildup occurs in the freezer, manually defrost by unplugging the unit and allowing ice to melt naturally, then clean and dry the interior before restarting.
