  • Do not allow children to climb on the furniture.
  • Distribute weight evenly across shelves. Heavy items should be placed on lower shelves.
  • Regularly check that all assembly fittings are tightened and re-tighten as necessary.

  3. Secure the shelving unit to the underframe using the provided screws and brackets. Ensure the unit is centered and stable on the underframe.

4.3. Wall Attachment (Anti-Tip Device)

It is crucial to secure the shelving unit to the wall to prevent tipping. This step is mandatory for safety.

  1. Position the assembled unit in its desired location.
  2. Mark the wall through the holes in the anti-tip bracket(s) provided.
  3. Drill pilot holes if necessary, using a drill bit appropriate for your wall material.
  4. Attach the anti-tip bracket(s) to the wall using suitable screws and wall plugs (not included).
  5. Secure the other end of the anti-tip bracket(s) to the back of the shelving unit using the provided screws.
  6. Ensure the connection is firm and the unit is stable against the wall.

5. Usage

The KALLAX shelving unit is designed for storage and display. It can be used as a freestanding unit or as a room divider when properly secured. The individual compartments are suitable for books, decorative items, or storage boxes.

  • Avoid overloading shelves to maintain stability and prevent damage.
  • Place heavier items on lower shelves to improve overall stability.
  • Ensure items are placed within the shelf boundaries to prevent them from falling.

6. Maintenance

To keep your KALLAX shelving unit in good condition, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Wipe with a dry cloth. For stubborn marks, use a damp cloth with a mild cleaner, then wipe dry immediately. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals.
  • Inspection: Periodically check all screws and fittings to ensure they are tight. Re-tighten as necessary.
  • Environment: Avoid placing the unit in direct sunlight or near heat sources, as this can cause fading or warping. Maintain a stable room temperature and humidity.

    • Ensure all cam locks and screws are fully tightened.
    • Verify that the unit is placed on a level surface.
    • Confirm the anti-tip device is securely fastened to both the unit and the wall.
  • Parts do not fit together:
    • Double-check the assembly diagrams to ensure components are oriented correctly.
    • Do not force parts. If a part does not fit, re-examine the instructions for proper placement.
  • Scratches or damage during assembly:
    • Always assemble on a soft, clean surface (e.g., a rug or cardboard).
    • Minor scratches can sometimes be touched up with furniture repair pens matching the finish.
