1. Introduction

The Yamaha YDS-120 is a digital soprano saxophone designed to offer the authentic feel and key layout of an acoustic saxophone with the versatility and convenience of a digital instrument. 2. Setup

2.1 Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove the YDS-120 from its packaging. Verify that all components are present, including the instrument and the three replacement O-rings. Inspect the instrument for any visible damage.

2.2 Power Supply

The YDS-120 can be powered by four AAA batteries or via a USB connection. Insert batteries into the designated compartment, observing correct polarity, or connect a USB micro-B cable to a compatible power source.

2.3 Attaching the Mouthpiece

Gently attach the specially designed recorder-style mouthpiece to the instrument. Ensure it is securely fitted but do not force it.

2.4 Initial Connections

For private practice, connect headphones to the headphone output jack. For external audio playback, use the AUX input. The USB micro-B port can be used for MIDI connectivity with compatible devices.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Key Layout and Fingering

3.2 Sound Selection and Voices

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning the Instrument

Store the instrument vertically to allow any condensation to drain. For internal cleaning, gently blow compressed air into the mouthpiece opening and the drain tube located in the bell. Avoid using liquids or abrasive cleaners.

4.2 O-Ring Replacement

The included replacement O-rings are for maintaining a secure seal for the mouthpiece. If the mouthpiece feels loose or air leakage is detected, replace the O-ring as needed.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 No Sound Output

• Ensure the instrument is powered on.
• Check headphone connection and volume level.
• Verify that a voice is selected and not muted.
• If using external speakers, ensure they are connected and powered.

5.2 Keys Not Responding or Sound Cutting Out

• Check battery levels or USB power connection.
• Ensure the mouthpiece is securely attached.

5.3 Bluetooth Connection Issues
