4. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your drill pump:

  1. Attach the Pump to a Drill: Insert the pump's drive shaft into the chuck of your electric drill. Ensure the chuck is tightened securely around the shaft. The pump is compatible with most drills having a 1/4 inch or larger chuck and speeds up to 2800 RPM.
  2. Connect Suction Hose: Attach the 30 in. x 1/4 in. suction tube to the inlet port of the drill pump. Ensure a tight connection to prevent air leaks.
  3. Connect Discharge Hose: Connect the 36 in. x 1/2 in. garden hose (or another standard 3/4 inch garden hose) to the outlet port of the drill pump. The intake and discharge ports feature easy-to-use 3/4 inch garden hose threads.
  4. Position Hoses: Place the suction hose into the water source you intend to drain. Position the discharge hose to direct the water to a suitable drainage area.

5. Operating Instructions

Once the pump is securely attached to your drill and hoses are connected:

  1. Priming: The pump is self-priming up to 8 ft vertically. For optimal performance, especially with longer suction lines or higher lifts, ensure the pump is filled with water before starting.
  2. Start Pumping: Activate your electric drill. The pump will begin to draw water through the suction hose and discharge it through the outlet hose.
  3. Monitor Flow: The pump can move up to 225 gallons per hour (GPH) and has a maximum vertical lift of 45 ft. Monitor the water flow and ensure the suction hose remains submerged in the water source.
  4. Stop Pumping: Once the desired amount of water has been transferred or the source is drained, turn off your electric drill.

6. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your drill pump:

  • Cleaning: After each use, especially when pumping dirty water, flush the pump with clean water to remove any debris.
  • Lubrication: To ensure longevity and optimal performance, particularly during extended use or with longer hose runs, it is recommended to lubricate the pump's internal components as per standard pump maintenance practices.
  • Storage: Store the pump and hoses in a clean, dry place away from extreme temperatures.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect hoses for cracks or leaks and the pump for any signs of wear or damage.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your drill pump, consider the following:

  • Pump Not Priming or Low Flow:
    • Ensure all hose connections are tight to prevent air leaks.
    • Verify the suction hose is fully submerged in water.
    • Check for kinks or blockages in the hoses.
    • Confirm your drill is operating at a sufficient speed (up to 2800 RPM recommended).
  • Pump Stops Working While Drill is Running:
    • Inspect the impeller and shaft connection within the pump. If the impeller is no longer engaging with the shaft, the pump will not move water.
    • Check for debris lodged inside the pump housing that might be obstructing the impeller.
  • Excessive Noise or Vibration:
    • Ensure the pump is securely mounted or held stable during operation.
    • Check for foreign objects inside the pump.
