Setup Guide

1. Battery Installation and Charging

  1. Ensure the radio is powered off.
  2. Align the battery with the compartment on the back of the radio and slide it into place until it clicks securely.
  3. Connect the USB Type-C charging cable to the radio's charging port and the other end to the AC adaptor or a compatible USB power source (e.g., power bank, laptop).
  4. The charging indicator will illuminate. Charge the battery fully before first use (approximately 4-6 hours).

2. Antenna Attachment

  1. Screw the antenna clockwise onto the connector on the top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.

3. Initial Power-On

  1. Rotate the Power/Volume knob clockwise to turn on the radio.
  2. Adjust the knob to a comfortable listening volume.

4. Programming the Radio

The UV-A37 can be programmed via PC software or directly through the radio's keypad.

PC Programming (Recommended for advanced users):

  • Alternatively, enter a specific frequency directly using the numeric keypad in VFO (Frequency) mode.

3. Transmitting and Receiving

  1. To transmit, press and hold the Push-To-Talk (PTT) button on the side of the radio. Speak clearly into the microphone.
  2. Release the PTT button to stop transmitting and return to receive mode.
  3. Ensure you are on an appropriate frequency and have permission to transmit.

4. NOAA Weather Channel Reception

The UV-A37 supports NOAA weather channel reception for real-time weather warnings. Access this feature through the radio's menu or a dedicated shortcut if programmed.

5. Wireless Copy Frequency

This feature allows the radio to wirelessly copy frequencies and privacy codes from another radio.

  1. Long press "side button 1" to enter the "SEARCH" interface.
  2. The UV-A37 will search for another radio's transmission frequency and privacy code.
  3. Once found, press the "Menu" button to store the frequency.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the radio with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents.
  • Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid overcharging or completely discharging the battery. Store the radio and battery in a cool, dry place when not in use for extended periods.
