5.1 Powering On/Off and Recording

  • When connected to power, the dash cam will automatically power on and begin recording when the vehicle starts.
  • To manually power on/off, press and hold the power button.
  • A red indicator light or icon on the screen typically indicates active recording.

5.2 Menu Navigation

  • Press the Menu button to access settings.
  • Use Up/Down buttons to scroll through options.
  • Press OK to select an option or confirm a setting.
  • Press the Mode button to switch between video recording, photo mode, and playback mode.

5.3 Dual Recording

5.4 Loop Recording

This feature ensures continuous recording by overwriting the oldest unlocked video files when the SD card reaches its capacity. Video segments are typically recorded in 1, 3, or 5-minute intervals. You can adjust the loop recording duration in the settings menu.

5.5 G-Sensor (Emergency Recording)

The built-in G-sensor detects sudden impacts or rapid acceleration/deceleration. When triggered, it automatically locks the current video segment, preventing it from being overwritten by loop recording. The sensitivity of the G-sensor can be adjusted in the settings.

5.6 24-Hour Parking Monitoring

When enabled, the parking monitor feature allows the dash cam to automatically record if it detects motion or an impact while your vehicle is parked. This requires a continuous power supply (e.g., hardwire kit, sold separately) or the dash cam's internal battery/super capacitor to have sufficient charge.

5.7 GPS Functionality

The built-in GPS module records your vehicle's speed, location, and driving route. This data can be viewed alongside your video footage using a compatible GPS player software on a Windows or Mac computer. The GPS viewer software can typically be found on the manufacturer's website or provided on the included SD card reader.

5.8 Night Vision and WDR Technology

The interior camera features infrared night vision for clear recording in low-light conditions. WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) technology automatically adjusts exposure to balance bright and dark areas in the video, ensuring clear footage even in challenging lighting environments.

6. Maintenance

6.1 SD Card Care

  • Regularly format the Micro SD card (at least once a month) to prevent data corruption and ensure optimal recording performance.
  • Use high-quality, high-speed (Class 10 or U3 recommended) Micro SD cards from reputable brands.
  • Avoid removing the SD card while the device is powered on or recording.

6.2 Cleaning the Device

  • Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the dash cam's body.
  • For the lenses, use a lens cleaning cloth or specialized lens wipes to avoid scratches.
  • Do not use chemical cleaners or solvents.

6.3 Super Capacitor

The Abask A8 uses a super capacitor instead of a traditional lithium battery. This provides enhanced durability and safety, allowing the dash cam to operate reliably in extreme temperatures (14°F to 158°F / -10°C to 70°C) and reducing the risk of overheating or explosion. The super capacitor provides enough power to safely save the last recording file when power is cut off.

7. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Solution

  • Check if the power cable is securely connected to the dash cam and the car's 12V socket.
  • Ensure the vehicle's 12V socket is receiving power.
