4. Installation Instructions
The Morimoto XB LED Taillights are designed for a "Plug and Play" installation, meaning they connect directly to your vehicle's existing wiring without requiring modifications. Installation typically takes approximately 30-60 minutes per side.
Tools Required:
- Phillips Head Screwdriver
- 8mm Socket
- 7mm Socket
- Ratchet
Installation Steps:
- Prepare Vehicle: Park your vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake. Turn off the ignition and remove the key. Disconnect the negative terminal of the vehicle's battery.
- Access Factory Taillights: Open the tailgate. Locate the mounting screws/bolts securing the factory taillight assembly. These are typically accessible from inside the tailgate opening or along the side of the taillight.
- Remove Factory Taillights: Using the appropriate Phillips head screwdriver or sockets (8mm and 7mm are commonly used for Ford Superduty taillights), carefully remove all securing fasteners. Gently pull the taillight assembly straight back from the vehicle to disengage any alignment pins.
- Disconnect Wiring: Once the taillight is loose, carefully disconnect the electrical connector(s) from the back of the factory taillight assembly.
- Install Morimoto XB LED Taillights: Connect the wiring harness of the new Morimoto XB LED Taillight assembly to the vehicle's factory wiring connector. Ensure the connection is secure and fully seated.
- Mount New Taillights: Align the new taillight assembly with the mounting holes and alignment pins on the vehicle. Gently push the taillight into place until it sits flush. Reinstall all securing fasteners that were removed in step 3. Do not overtighten.
- Repeat for Other Side: Follow steps 2-6 for the opposite side taillight.
- Reconnect Battery & Test: Reconnect the negative battery terminal. Turn on your vehicle's ignition and test all lighting functions: parking lights, brake lights, reverse lights, and turn signals. Ensure all functions operate correctly.

6. Maintenance
Morimoto XB LED Taillights are designed for long-term durability and minimal maintenance. Follow these simple guidelines to keep them in optimal condition:
- Cleaning: Clean the lens with a soft cloth and mild automotive soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, which can damage the lens material.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect the taillight assemblies for any signs of damage, loose connections, or moisture intrusion.
- Waterproof Design: While designed to be waterproof, avoid directing high-pressure water sprays directly at the seals for extended periods.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Morimoto XB LED Taillights, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Lights not illuminating | Loose electrical connection, blown fuse, incorrect installation. | Check all electrical connections for secure fitment. Inspect vehicle's fuse box for a blown fuse related to taillights and replace if necessary. Review installation steps. |
| Flickering lights | Loose connection, voltage fluctuation, incompatible vehicle system (rare for plug-and-play). | Ensure connections are tight. If flickering persists, consult a professional auto electrician. |
| Moisture inside lens | Condensation due to temperature changes, seal compromise. | Small amounts of condensation may dissipate naturally. If excessive or persistent, inspect seals for damage. Contact support if issue continues. |
If these steps do not resolve the issue, please contact Morimoto customer support.
