Introduction & Overview
The Vortex Optics Viper HD 3000 Laser Rangefinder is designed for precision ranging in various outdoor conditions. It features 7x magnification and a 25mm objective lens, providing clear optics and confident target acquisition. With a maximum range of 3,000 yards (2,000 yards on game), it allows for accurate distance measurement for big game. The HD optical system utilizes select glass elements for exceptional resolution, reduced chromatic aberration, and outstanding color fidelity. XR Plus lens coatings ensure maximum light transmission for peak clarity and low light performance. The red OLED display maintains visibility even in low light conditions. This rangefinder offers four target modes (Normal, First, Last, and ELR) and two ranging modes (HCD and LOS) for versatile use. It is also tripod adaptable for enhanced stability.

Setup
Physical Dimensions & Weight
The rangefinder measures approximately 4.2 inches in length, 1.7 inches in width, and 3.1 inches in height. It weighs 9.1 ounces (without the pouch). The compact size and lightweight design make it easy to carry and handle in the field.

Battery Installation
The device uses a CR123 battery. To install, locate the battery cap at the rear of the unit. Use the small flip-up plastic tab on the cap to unscrew it. Insert the CR123 battery with the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment. Carefully screw the cap back on, ensuring not to cross-thread the aluminum threads to maintain a proper seal and connectivity.

Diopter and Focus Adjustment
Adjust the diopter at the rear of the unit to achieve a clear view for your individual eyesight. The diopter has two main positions: fully collapsed and fully extended. It can be set to intermediate positions based on tension. The focus dial, located in front of the diopter, allows for fine-tuning the image clarity. This dial has a knurled plastic surface for easy grip and adjustment.

Tripod Adaptability
The rangefinder features a 1/4-20 socket at the bottom, allowing it to be mounted on any standard tripod mounting plate. This is particularly useful for ranging targets at long distances, as it helps maintain stability and accuracy.
