4. Sizing and Fit

A properly fitting helmet is critical for safety and comfort. To determine your correct helmet size, measure the circumference of your head just above your eyebrows and ears. Compare your measurement to the size chart below.

When trying on the helmet, it should feel snug around your head and cheeks without causing uncomfortable pressure points. The helmet should not move freely when you shake your head. If it does, try a smaller size.

5. Setup

5.1 Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove the helmet from its packaging. Inspect the helmet for any signs of damage that may have occurred during shipping. Check the shell, visor, and chin strap for cracks, scratches, or deformities. If any damage is found, do not use the helmet and contact your retailer.

5.2 Adjusting the Chin Strap

The VINZ Vigo helmet features a ratchet closure system for the chin strap. To adjust:

  1. Place the helmet on your head.
  2. Thread the chin strap through the D-rings or engage the ratchet mechanism until it is snug under your chin.
  3. Ensure there is enough tension so that the helmet cannot be easily pulled off your head, but not so tight that it causes discomfort or restricts breathing. You should be able to fit one finger between the strap and your chin.
  4. Secure any excess strap length using the provided strap holder.

6. Operating

6.1 Wearing and Removing the Helmet

To wear the helmet, hold it by the chin straps and pull it over your head, ensuring your ears are not folded. Once on, adjust the chin strap as described in Section 5.2. To remove, unfasten the chin strap and gently pull the helmet off your head from back to front.

6.2 Visor Operation

The clear visor can be easily opened and closed. Use the tab located on the visor to lift or lower it. Ensure the visor is fully closed when riding to protect your eyes from wind, debris, and insects. The visor is designed to be anti-scratch, but care should still be taken to avoid abrasive contact.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning the Exterior Shell

Clean the helmet's exterior with a soft cloth and mild soap and water. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a clean, soft cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they can damage the helmet's finish and structural integrity.

7.2 Cleaning the Visor

The visor should be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap or a specialized helmet visor cleaner. Do not use paper towels or abrasive materials, as they can scratch the visor. Dry gently with a microfiber cloth.

7.3 Washing Removable Padding

The ear pads of the VINZ Vigo helmet are removable for cleaning. Gently detach them from the helmet. Hand wash them with mild soap and lukewarm water. Rinse thoroughly and allow them to air dry completely before reattaching them to the helmet. Do not machine wash or tumble dry.

7.4 Storage

Store your helmet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use the provided helmet bag to protect it from dust and scratches when not in use. Do not store the helmet near chemicals or fuels.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1 Visor Fogging

If your visor fogs up, especially in cold or humid conditions, try slightly opening the visor to allow for airflow. Consider using an anti-fog spray or insert designed for helmet visors.

8.2 Discomfort or Pressure Points

If you experience discomfort or pressure points, re-check your helmet size using the sizing guide in Section 4. Ensure the helmet is worn correctly and the chin strap is not overtightened. The padding will conform slightly over time, but persistent discomfort may indicate an incorrect size.

8.3 Chin Strap Issues

If the chin strap is difficult to fasten or unfasten, ensure the ratchet mechanism is clean and free of debris. Do not force the mechanism. If the strap is frayed or damaged, the helmet should be replaced.
