4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

The Aicevoos AS-NF Brake Fluid Tester requires batteries (not included). To install:

  1. Unscrew the cap at the top of the tester to access the battery compartment.
  2. Insert the required batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Securely screw the cap back on.

4.2 Initial Power On

Press the red power button (Ⓢ) to turn on the device. The screen will light up, and the device will perform a self-test.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Selecting Brake Fluid Type

The tester supports DOT3, DOT4, and DOT5.1 brake fluids. To select the correct type:

  1. Turn on the tester.
  2. Press the blue 'S' button (S) to cycle through the DOT fluid types (DOT3, DOT4, DOT5.1) displayed on the screen. Select the type corresponding to the brake fluid you are testing.

5.2 Performing a Test

Follow these steps to test your brake fluid:

  1. Ensure the engine is off and the vehicle is on a level surface.
  2. Locate the brake fluid reservoir. Carefully remove the reservoir cap.
  3. Clean the probe tips of the tester with a clean cloth.
  4. Carefully dip the probe tips into the brake fluid reservoir, ensuring both probes are fully submerged in the fluid. Do not touch the sides of the reservoir.
  5. Wait for the reading to stabilize. The device will display the water content percentage and provide an indication via its backlight and sound.
  6. Remove the tester from the fluid and clean the probe tips thoroughly after each use.
  7. Replace the brake fluid reservoir cap securely.

5.3 Interpreting Results (Sound and Light Alarms)

The tester provides clear indications based on the water content:

  • 0% - 2% Water Content: The screen backlight will be green. This indicates the brake fluid is in good condition and can continue to be used.
  • 2% - 3% Water Content: The screen backlight will be yellow, and the buzzer will emit a slow sound. This indicates that the brake fluid is approaching its limit and should be considered for replacement soon.
  • Greater than 3% Water Content: The screen backlight will be red, and the buzzer will emit a rapid sound. This indicates that the brake fluid has excessive water content and must be replaced immediately for safety.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: After each use, clean the probe tips thoroughly with a dry, clean cloth to remove any brake fluid residue. Do not use water or solvents on the probe.
  • Storage: Store the tester in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure the cap is securely in place.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low voltage prompt appears or the device fails to power on.
