3. Setup

3.1 Charging the Device

The DM-262 is equipped with a rechargeable lithium battery. Before first use, ensure the device is fully charged.

  1. Locate the Type-C charging port on the side of the device.
  2. Connect the provided Type-C charge cable to the device and a compatible USB power adapter (not included).
  3. The battery indicator on the LCD will show charging status. A full charge typically takes a few hours.
  4. Once fully charged, disconnect the cable. The device is ready for use.

3.2 Powering On/Off

  • To Power On: Press the ON/MEAS button. The LCD display will illuminate.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the OFF button for a few seconds. The device will also automatically power off after a period of inactivity to conserve battery.

4.1 Basic Measurement (Single Laser Mode)

  1. Power on the device.
  2. Point the laser at the target surface.
  3. Press the ON/MEAS button once to activate the laser.
  4. Press the ON/MEAS button again to take a measurement. The distance will be displayed on the screen.

4.2 Bilateral Laser Measurement

This mode allows simultaneous measurement from both ends of the device.

  1. Ensure the device is powered on.
  2. Press the MODE button until the bilateral measurement icon appears on the display.
  3. Position the device between two points you wish to measure.
  4. Press the ON/MEAS button to activate both lasers and take the measurement. The total distance will be displayed.

4.3 Changing Measurement Units

To cycle through measurement units (feet, inches, meters):

  • Press the UNIT button repeatedly until your desired unit is displayed.

4.4 Area and Volume Measurement

The device can calculate area and volume automatically.

  1. Press the MODE button until the area or volume icon is selected.
  2. Follow the on-screen prompts to take the required length, width, and height measurements.
  3. The device will automatically calculate and display the area or volume.

4.5 Pythagorean Mode (Indirect Measurement)

Use this mode for indirect height or width measurements where direct measurement is not possible.

  1. Press the MODE button until a Pythagorean icon (e.g., for height or hypotenuse) is selected.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to take the necessary measurements (e.g., distance to base, distance to top).
  3. The device will calculate and display the indirect measurement.

4.6 Angle Sensor

The integrated angle sensor allows for tilt angle measurements and can assist with indirect measurements.

  • The current tilt angle is displayed on the screen.
  • This feature is automatically active and provides real-time angle readings.

4.7 Addition and Subtraction

Measurements can be added or subtracted from previous readings.

  1. Take a measurement.
  2. Press the ADD button for addition or SUBTRACT button for subtraction.
  3. Take the next measurement. The device will perform the calculation and display the result.

4.8 Mute Function

To mute or unmute the device's sound:

  • Press the MUTE button to toggle the sound on or off.

4.9 Data Record (Memory)

The device stores up to 100 measurement records.

  • Press the HISTORY button to view previous measurements.
  • Use the arrow buttons to navigate through the stored data.

4.10 Display Features

The color backlit LCD display offers enhanced readability:

  • Font Enlargement: The display can enlarge text for better visibility.
  • Screen Rotation: The screen orientation can be adjusted for comfortable viewing.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning
