1. Safety Information
Always prioritize safety when operating power tools. Read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before using the chainsaw.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear appropriate safety gear, including a helmet with face shield, hearing protection, safety glasses, heavy-duty gloves, chainsaw protective trousers or chaps, and steel-toed boots.
- Fuel Handling: Handle gasoline and oil with extreme care. Mix fuel in a well-ventilated area, away from ignition sources. Do not smoke while refueling.
- Work Area: Ensure your work area is clear of obstacles, bystanders, and pets. Maintain a firm footing and balance.
- Kickback: Be aware of chainsaw kickback, which can occur when the moving chain at the tip of the guide bar touches an object, or when the wood closes in and pinches the saw chain in the cut. Avoid cutting with the tip of the guide bar.
- Maintenance: Regularly inspect the chainsaw for damage, loose parts, or wear. Do not operate a damaged chainsaw.

3. Setup and Assembly
Before first use, the guide bar and chain must be properly installed. Refer to the video below for a visual guide.
Video: Detailed instructions for installing the guide bar and chain on the chainsaw.
Assembly Steps:
- Remove Side Cover: Loosen the nuts on the side cover and remove it to expose the clutch and guide bar studs.
- Install Guide Bar: Place the guide bar onto the studs, ensuring the tensioning pin aligns with the hole in the guide bar.
- Install Chain: Carefully place the chain around the clutch sprocket and into the groove of the guide bar. Ensure the cutting edges of the chain are facing the correct direction (away from the engine at the top of the bar).
- Replace Side Cover: Reinstall the side cover, making sure the chain brake mechanism engages correctly. Hand-tighten the nuts.
- Adjust Chain Tension: Use the tensioning screw (usually located on the side cover) to adjust the chain tension. The chain should be snug against the guide bar but still able to be pulled freely by hand. There should be no slack on the underside of the guide bar.
- Tighten Nuts: Fully tighten the side cover nuts to secure the guide bar and chain.

4. Operating Instructions
Fuel Mixture:
This is a 2-stroke engine and requires a specific fuel mixture of gasoline and 2-stroke engine oil. Refer to the chainsaw's fuel tank cap or the engine manufacturer's recommendations for the exact mixing ratio (e.g., 25:1 or 50:1). Use fresh, unleaded gasoline and high-quality 2-stroke oil.
Starting the Chainsaw:
- Fill Tanks: Fill the fuel tank with the correct fuel mixture and the oil tank with bar and chain oil.
- Engage Chain Brake: Push the chain brake lever forward to engage the chain brake.
- Choke: For a cold engine, pull the choke knob out fully. For a warm engine, the choke may not be necessary.
- Primer Bulb: Press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible in the bulb.
- Start Handle: Place the chainsaw on a firm, flat surface. Hold the front handle firmly with one hand and pull the starter cord with the other until the engine fires (usually a few pulls).
- Disengage Choke: Once the engine fires, push the choke knob in halfway or fully, depending on the model.
- Restart: Pull the starter cord again until the engine starts and runs smoothly.
- Disengage Chain Brake: Pull the chain brake lever back towards the front handle to disengage the chain brake. The chain will now move when the throttle is applied.
Cutting Techniques:
- Always maintain a firm grip with both hands on the chainsaw handles.
- Keep the chain sharp for efficient and safe cutting.
- Plan your cuts to avoid pinching the guide bar or chain.
- Be aware of falling debris and maintain a safe distance from the cutting area.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your chainsaw.
Chain Sharpening:
A sharp chain is crucial for performance and safety. Sharpen the chain regularly using a round file of the correct size for your chain pitch. Ensure all cutters are sharpened to the same length and angle.
Guide Bar Maintenance:
- Clean the guide bar groove regularly to remove sawdust and debris.
- Flip the guide bar periodically to ensure even wear.
- Check the guide bar rails for burrs and file them smooth if necessary.
Air Filter Cleaning:
Clean the air filter after every 5-10 hours of operation, or more frequently in dusty conditions. Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and clean it with warm, soapy water or compressed air. Allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.
Spark Plug Inspection:
Inspect the spark plug periodically for wear or carbon buildup. Clean or replace the spark plug as needed. Ensure the electrode gap is set correctly according to the manufacturer's specifications.
Lubrication System:
Ensure the automatic oiler is functioning correctly. Check the oil level before each use. If the chain is not being lubricated, check for blockages in the oil passages.
6. Troubleshooting
Below are common issues and their potential solutions.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Chainsaw won't start | Incorrect starting procedure, no fuel, stale fuel, fouled spark plug, clogged fuel filter | Follow starting instructions carefully, check fuel level, replace old fuel, clean/replace spark plug, replace fuel filter |
| Chain not cutting properly | Dull chain, incorrect chain tension, worn guide bar | Sharpen chain, adjust chain tension, inspect/replace guide bar |
| Engine runs rough or stalls | Clogged air filter, incorrect fuel mixture, carburetor issues | Clean air filter, ensure correct fuel mixture, consult a professional for carburetor adjustment |
| No chain lubrication | Empty oil tank, clogged oil passages, faulty oil pump | Fill oil tank, clear oil passages, consult a professional for oil pump repair |
