1. Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the Kobo Elipsa 2E eReader and digital notebook. The Kobo Elipsa 2E features a 10.3-inch glare-free touchscreen, ComfortLight PRO for adjustable brightness and color temperature, and includes the Kobo Stylus 2 for note-taking. It is designed for reading and digital note-taking with a focus on user comfort and functionality.

2. What's in the Box

Upon unboxing your Kobo Elipsa 2E, you should find the following items:

3. Setup

1. Power On: Press and hold the power button located on the side of the device until the screen activates.
2. Language Selection: Follow the on-screen prompts to select your preferred language.
3. Wi-Fi Connection: Connect your Kobo Elipsa 2E to a Wi-Fi network. This is necessary for accessing the Kobo Store, syncing content, and receiving updates.
4. Kobo Account Setup: Sign in with an existing Kobo account or create a new one. This account manages your library and settings.
5. Initial Sync: Once connected and logged in, your device will perform an initial sync to download any purchased content or updates.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Display and Lighting

The Kobo Elipsa 2E features a 10.3-inch E Ink Carta 1200 touchscreen. The ComfortLight PRO system allows for adjustment of both brightness and color temperature to reduce blue light exposure, enhancing reading comfort in various lighting conditions.

4.2. Reading Features

The glare-free screen provides a paper-like reading experience. You can navigate through eBooks by tapping the screen or swiping. The device offers various customization options for font size and layout to suit individual preferences. The reading experience is designed to be free from advertisements and distractions.

4.3. Note-Taking with Kobo Stylus 2

The included Kobo Stylus 2 allows for direct interaction with your eBooks and PDFs. You can highlight text, underline passages, or write notes in the margins. Kobo's patented markup technology ensures that your annotations remain visible even if you adjust the font size of the text.

The Kobo Stylus 2 is ergonomically redesigned and rechargeable. It features an eraser on the back and a highlighter button for quick access to functions.

The device also functions as a digital notebook, allowing you to create new notes, brainstorm ideas, or manage tasks. Your handwritten notes can be converted to typed text.

You can search for keywords or specific notes within your digital notebooks.

4.4. Audiobooks

The Kobo Elipsa 2E supports Kobo Audiobooks. To listen, connect Bluetooth wireless headphones or a speaker to the device.

4.5. Connectivity and Storage

The device connects via Wi-Fi and USB-C. With 32GB of internal storage, the Kobo Elipsa 2E can store approximately 24,000 eBooks. You can also access millions of eBooks and audiobooks through the Kobo Store when connected to Wi-Fi. Notes and documents can be managed and shared using cloud storage services.

5. Maintenance

• Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the screen and body of the device. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
• Battery Care: For optimal battery life, avoid fully discharging the device frequently. Charge the device using the provided USB-C cable. Battery life can vary based on individual usage patterns.
• Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

6. Troubleshooting

• Device Unresponsive: If the device becomes unresponsive, try performing a soft reset by holding the power button for 15-20 seconds.
• Wi-Fi Connection Issues: Ensure your Wi-Fi network is active and the password is correct. Try restarting your router and the Kobo Elipsa 2E.
• Stylus Not Responding: Ensure the Kobo Stylus 2 is charged. If issues persist, try restarting the eReader.
• Content Not Syncing: Verify your Wi-Fi connection and Kobo account login. Manually initiate a sync from the device's settings.
