Introduction

The Coast TX17R is a versatile and durable tactical LED flashlight designed for dynamic beam control across medium to long ranges. It features the COAST PURE BEAM system, allowing for seamless transitions between Ultra View Flood Beam and BULLS-EYE Spot Beam. Constructed from solid aluminum, the TX17R is built to withstand challenging environments and offers multiple power options for convenience.

Setup

Battery Installation

The TX17R flashlight is powered by either the included COAST ZITHION-X ZX850 lithium battery or two CR123 disposable lithium batteries (sold separately). To install the battery:

1. Unscrew the tail cap of the flashlight by turning it counter-clockwise.
2. Insert the ZITHION-X ZX850 battery with the positive (+) end facing towards the head of the flashlight. If using CR123 batteries, ensure correct polarity as indicated inside the battery compartment.
3. Screw the tail cap back on clockwise until it is securely tightened.

Charging the Battery

The ZITHION-X ZX850 battery can be recharged directly via its built-in USB-C port. A USB-C charging cable is included.

1. Locate the USB-C charging port on the battery.
2. Connect the included USB-C cable to the battery and to a compatible USB power source (e.g., wall adapter, computer USB port).
3. The charging indicator light on the battery will illuminate red during charging and turn green when fully charged.

Operating Instructions

Power On/Off and Mode Selection

The flashlight is operated using the tail cap button.

• To turn ON/OFF: Press the tail cap button firmly until it clicks.
• To cycle through modes: With the flashlight ON, lightly press the tail cap button repeatedly to cycle through High, Medium, and Low light modes.

Focus Adjustment (SLIDE FOCUS & BEAM LOCK)

The TX17R features a dynamic focusing system:

• SLIDE FOCUS: To adjust the beam from a tight spot to a wide flood, simply push or pull the bezel (the front part of the flashlight) forward or backward.
• BEAM LOCK: To lock the beam in a specific focus position, twist the bezel. This will prevent accidental changes to the beam pattern during use. Twist it back to unlock.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Coast TX17R flashlight, follow these maintenance guidelines:

• Cleaning: Wipe the flashlight body with a clean, soft cloth. For the lens, use a lens cleaning cloth and solution to avoid scratches.
• Lubrication: Periodically apply a thin coat of silicone grease to the O-rings and threads to maintain water resistance and smooth operation.
• Battery Care: Store the battery in a cool, dry place when not in use. If storing for extended periods, charge the battery every 3-6 months to prevent deep discharge.
• Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Do not expose the flashlight to extreme heat or cold for prolonged periods, as this can affect battery life and internal components.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your TX17R flashlight, try the following solutions:

• Flashlight not turning on:
  • Ensure the battery is fully charged.
  • Check that the battery is inserted with the correct polarity.
  • Tighten the tail cap securely. A loose tail cap can prevent electrical contact.
  • If using CR123 batteries, ensure they are fresh and correctly installed.
• Dim or flickering light:
  • Recharge the battery. Low battery power can cause dimming.
  • Clean the battery contacts and the flashlight's internal contacts with a clean cloth.
  • Ensure the bezel is not stuck between focus settings. Adjust it fully to spot or flood.
• Focus mechanism is stiff:
  • Ensure the BEAM LOCK is disengaged (twisted to the unlocked position).
  • Clean the area around the bezel and apply a small amount of silicone grease if necessary.
