2. Safety Instructions

Always prioritize safety when operating power tools. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or property damage.

General Safety Warnings

  • Read All Instructions: Familiarize yourself with the controls and proper use of the tool.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and sturdy footwear. A hard hat is recommended when using the pole saw function.
  • Maintain a Safe Work Area: Keep bystanders, children, and pets at a safe distance (at least 50 feet) from the operating area. Clear the work area of obstacles that could cause tripping or entanglement.
  • Inspect Before Use: Before each use, check the tool for loose parts, damage, or wear. Ensure the chain is properly tensioned and lubricated.
  • Secure Grip: Always maintain a firm grip on the tool handles with both hands during operation.
  • Avoid Overreaching: Do not overreach or stand on unstable surfaces. Maintain proper footing and balance at all times.
  • Beware of Kickback: Kickback can occur when the moving chain contacts an object at the upper tip of the guide bar or when the wood closes in and pinches the chain in the cut. Avoid cutting with the tip of the guide bar.
  • Battery Safety: Use only the specified battery packs. Do not charge batteries in damp or wet locations. Do not incinerate batteries.
  • Double Safety Switch: The tool is equipped with a double safety switch to prevent accidental starting. Ensure both switches are engaged simultaneously to operate the saw.

Specific Pole Saw Safety

  • Overhead Power Lines: Never operate the pole saw near overhead power lines. Maintain a minimum distance of 10 feet (3 meters) from all power lines.
  • Falling Debris: Be aware of falling branches and debris. Plan your cuts to ensure branches fall safely and away from you.
  • Proper Cutting Technique: Make relief cuts to prevent branches from pinching the saw blade. Do not force the saw through wood; let the chain do the work.

  3. The pole saw head can be adjusted up to 180 degrees. Loosen the adjustment knob, set the desired angle, and tighten the knob firmly.

5. Operation

5.1 Battery Charging

Connect the battery charger to a standard power outlet. Insert the battery into the charger. The indicator light on the charger will show the charging status (e.g., red for charging, green for fully charged). Allow batteries to fully charge before first use.

The pole saw features an automatic oiling system. Before each use, fill the oil reservoir with appropriate chain lubricant. A transparent window allows you to monitor the oil level. The system will automatically lubricate the bar and chain during operation, ensuring optimal performance and extending chain life.

5.3 Chain Tension Adjustment

This tool is equipped with a tool-free chain tension adjustment system. To adjust tension, simply turn the green knob on the side of the chainsaw unit. The chain should be snug against the guide bar but still able to be pulled freely by hand. Proper chain tension is crucial for safe and efficient cutting.

5.6 Starting and Stopping

  • To Start: Press and hold the safety lock button, then squeeze the trigger switch. Release the safety lock button once the saw is running.
  • To Stop: Release the trigger switch. The chain will stop rotating.

  • Regularly check the chain oil level through the transparent window and refill as needed with quality chain and bar oil.
  • Ensure the automatic oiling system is functioning by observing oil residue on the guide bar after a brief operation.

6.2 Cleaning

  • Always remove the battery before cleaning.
  • Clean the chainsaw unit, guide bar, and chain after each use to remove sawdust, sap, and debris. Use a brush or compressed air.
  • Wipe down external surfaces with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals.

6.3 Chain Sharpening and Replacement

  • A sharp chain is essential for efficient and safe cutting. Sharpen the chain regularly or replace it when dull or damaged. Refer to the chain manufacturer's instructions for sharpening specifications.
  • Always use replacement chains that match the original specifications.
