5. Color Calibration with Palette Master Ultimate

The BenQ SW272U monitor is designed for precise color accuracy, which is maintained through hardware calibration using the Palette Master Ultimate (PMU) software.

5.1 Why Palette Master Ultimate?

BenQ developed Palette Master Ultimate in-house to provide faster and more accurate calibration, incorporating advanced features and user feedback. This software significantly reduces calibration time and improves color accuracy compared to previous versions.

Video: This video explains the rationale behind BenQ's development of its own calibration software, Palette Master Ultimate (PMU), highlighting the need for faster and more accurate calibration based on customer feedback.
Video: This video details the technology behind Palette Master Ultimate (PMU) that allows it to shorten calibration time by 50% compared to its predecessor, Palette Master Element (PME), through optimized hardware and algorithms.

5.2 Calibration Process

To perform hardware calibration:

  1. Download and install the latest Palette Master Ultimate software from the BenQ website.
  2. Connect a supported calibrator (e.g., i1Display Pro, ColorChecker Display Pro) to your computer and the monitor.
  3. Launch Palette Master Ultimate and follow the on-screen instructions to select your monitor model and calibrator.
  4. Choose your desired calibration target (e.g., Photography Adobe RGB, Web Design sRGB).
  5. Place the calibrator on the designated area of the screen and initiate the calibration process.
  6. The software will automatically adjust the monitor's internal lookup table (LUT) for optimal color accuracy.
  7. Upon completion, a calibration report will be generated, showing the results and confirming accuracy (average ΔE*00 value of less than 0.5 is achievable).
Video: This video illustrates the step-by-step process of how Palette Master Ultimate calibration works, from initial settings to placing the calibrator and generating a report.
