5. Setup and Installation

Before beginning, ensure you have the necessary tools (e.g., drill, stud finder, level, screwdriver) and have identified a suitable wall type (wood stud, concrete, or brick).

5.1 Wall Compatibility Check

Confirm your wall type is suitable for mounting. The mount is compatible with:

  • Single Wood Stud
  • Brick Walls
  • Concrete Walls

Warning: Do not install into drywall alone without securing to a stud or using appropriate heavy-duty anchors (not included).

5.2 Installation Steps

  1. Mount the Wall Plate: Locate a suitable mounting position on your wall. Use a stud finder to find a wood stud, or mark the desired location on concrete/brick. Drill pilot holes and securely attach the wall plate using the provided lag screws (for wood studs) or concrete anchors (for concrete/brick). Ensure the wall plate is level.
  2. Attach the Monitor Arm: Slide the monitor arm assembly onto the wall plate. Ensure it is securely seated.
  3. Attach VESA Plate to Monitor: Secure the VESA plate to the back of your monitor using the appropriate monitor mounting screws. Ensure the screws are tightened firmly but do not overtighten.
  4. Mount Monitor to Arm: Carefully lift the monitor with the attached VESA plate and slide it onto the monitor arm's VESA head. Secure it with the locking mechanism, if present.
  5. Cable Management: Route monitor cables through the integrated cable management channels on the arm to maintain a clean appearance.

6. Operating and Adjusting the Monitor Mount

The ErgoUnion Monitor Wall Mount offers flexible adjustments to achieve your optimal viewing position.

6.1 Adjusting Monitor Position

  • Tilt: The monitor can be tilted +90° upwards and -25° downwards. Gently grasp the top and bottom edges of your monitor and adjust to the desired angle.
  • Swivel: The arm allows for a 180° swivel, enabling you to turn your monitor left or right.
  • Rotation: Rotate your monitor 360° to switch between landscape and portrait orientations.
  • Extension: The arm can extend up to approximately 24.7 inches from the wall.

6.2 Adjusting Spring Tension

The mechanical spring tension can be adjusted to accommodate different monitor weights, ensuring the monitor stays in place at any height.

  • For Lighter Monitors: If the monitor tends to rise on its own, turn the tension adjustment screw counter-clockwise to decrease tension.
  • For Heavier Monitors: If the monitor sags or is difficult to raise, turn the tension adjustment screw clockwise to increase tension.

Use the provided hex key to make small adjustments until the monitor holds its position smoothly.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your monitor mount.

  • Periodic Checks: Periodically check all screws and connections to ensure they remain tight. Retighten if necessary.
  • Cleaning: Clean the mount with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish.
  • Lubrication: The mechanical spring mechanism is designed to be nearly maintenance-free. Do not attempt to lubricate internal components unless specifically instructed by customer support.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your monitor mount, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Monitor Sags or Won't Stay Up:
        - The spring tension is likely too low for your monitor's weight. Increase the tension by turning the adjustment screw clockwise (refer to Section 6.2). Ensure your monitor's weight does not exceed the 25 lbs capacity.
  • Monitor is Difficult to Move or Stays Too High:
        - The spring tension is likely too high. Decrease the tension by turning the adjustment screw counter-clockwise (refer to Section 6.2).
  • Mount Feels Unstable on the Wall:
        - Recheck all wall mounting screws and ensure they are securely tightened. Verify that the mount is installed into a solid wood stud, concrete, or brick wall, and not just drywall. If the issue persists, professional re-installation may be required.
  • Monitor Wobbles:
        - Ensure all connections, including the VESA plate to the monitor and the arm to the wall plate, are tight. Check for any loose components.

If these solutions do not resolve your issue, please contact ErgoUnion customer support.
