  1. Power Connection: Connect the MTC-10 to a power source using the USB-B port (3). This can be a computer's USB port or a standard 5VDC USB power adapter. The device will power on automatically.
  2. MIDI Device Connection:
    • To receive MIDI Time Code from a MIDI device or computer, connect its MIDI OUT to the MTC-10's MIDI IN (5).
    • To send MIDI Time Code to a MIDI device, connect the MTC-10's MIDI OUT (4) to the MIDI IN of your MIDI device.
  3. LTC Device Connection:
    • To receive SMPTE LTC Time Code, connect the LTC output of your device to the MTC-10's LTC IN (1).
    • To send SMPTE LTC Time Code, connect the MTC-10's LTC OUT (2) to the LTC input of your device.
  4. Initial Check: Once all connections are made, observe the FPS and SOURCE indicators on the top panel. The device should automatically detect an incoming time code signal and illuminate the corresponding SOURCE and FPS LEDs.

4. Operating Instructions

The MTC-10 is designed for straightforward operation. The primary function involves selecting the input time code source and observing the output.

4.1. Selecting Time Code Source

The MTC-10 can receive time code from USB, MIDI, or LTC inputs. To select the active input source:

  • Press the SW Button (8) on the top panel. Each press will cycle through the available input sources: USB, MIDI, LTC.
  • The corresponding SOURCE Indicator (7) (USB, MIDI, or LTC) will illuminate to show the currently selected input.
  • Ensure the correct source is selected for your setup to ensure proper time code reception and conversion.

4.2. Understanding FPS Indicators

The FPS Indicators (6) display the frame rate of the detected or generated time code. These include:

  • 24: 24 frames per second (film standard).
  • 25: 25 frames per second (PAL video standard).
  • 30DF: 30 frames per second, drop-frame (NTSC video standard).
  • 30: 30 frames per second, non-drop-frame (NTSC video standard).

The MTC-10 automatically detects the incoming frame rate and illuminates the corresponding LED. The output time code will match the detected input frame rate.

4.3. Synchronization Process

Once the input source is selected and a valid time code signal is detected, the MTC-10 will convert and output the time code to the other interfaces. For example, if LTC is selected as the source, the incoming LTC time code will be converted to MTC and sent out via the MIDI OUT and USB MIDI ports. Conversely, if USB or MIDI is selected as the source, the incoming MTC will be converted to LTC and sent out via the LTC OUT port.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your DOREMiDi MTC-10, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the device. Avoid using liquid cleaners, solvents, or abrasive materials, as these can damage the finish or internal components.
  • Environment: Operate and store the device in a dry environment, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the official DOREMiDi website for available firmware updates. Firmware updates can introduce new features, improve performance, or resolve known issues. Follow the instructions provided on the website carefully when performing an update.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your MTC-10, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Device does not power on.No power supply or faulty USB connection.Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to a working USB port or 5VDC power adapter. Try a different USB cable or power source.
No time code signal detected (SOURCE LEDs off or incorrect).Incorrect input source selected, faulty cable, or no time code being sent from the source device.Press the SW Button to cycle through sources and ensure the correct one is selected. Check all MIDI and LTC cables for secure connection and integrity. Verify that your source device is actively sending time code.
Incorrect FPS displayed.Source device is sending a different frame rate than expected.Verify the frame rate settings on your source device (e.g., DAW, video player). The MTC-10 automatically detects the incoming FPS.
MIDI or LTC output is not received by target device.Incorrect cabling, target device not configured to receive time code, or MTC-10 not receiving input time code.Ensure output cables are correctly connected. Check the target device's settings to confirm it is listening for time code on the correct input. Verify that the MTC-10 is successfully receiving time code (check SOURCE and FPS LEDs).
