Setup
1. Battery Installation
The Diamondback HD 2000 uses one CR2 battery. To install or replace the battery:
- Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the rangefinder.
- Twist the battery cap counter-clockwise to open.
- Insert a fresh CR2 battery with the positive (+) terminal facing inwards.
- Replace the battery cap and twist clockwise to secure it.
2. Power On/Off
Press the Measure button once to power on the unit. The display will illuminate. The unit will automatically power off after 10 seconds of inactivity to conserve battery life.
3. Diopter Adjustment
To ensure a clear view of the display and target, adjust the diopter. While looking through the ocular lens, rotate the diopter focus ring until the display text appears sharp and clear.
Operating Instructions
1. Basic Ranging
To measure the distance to a target:
- Aim the rangefinder at your desired target.
- Press and release the Measure button.
- The distance to the target will be displayed in the red OLED display.
2. Ranging Modes
The Diamondback HD 2000 offers several ranging modes to adapt to various situations:
- HCD (Horizontal Component Distance) Mode: This is the primary mode and provides angle-compensated distance to the target. It is ideal for most hunting and shooting situations on varied terrain.

- LOS (Line of Sight) Mode: Displays the actual line of sight range. This mode is useful for ballistic calculations where true line-of-sight distance is required.

- Scan Mode: Provides continuous distance readings while panning across a landscape or tracking a moving target. To activate, press and hold the Measure button. The display will continuously update distances as you move the rangefinder.

- Normal Mode: Measures the distance to the most reflective target.
- Last Mode: Measures the distance to the furthest target in a group, useful for ranging through brush or small obstacles.
To switch between modes, press the Menu button. The current mode will be displayed. Continue pressing the Menu button to cycle through the available options.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning the Lenses
Keep the lenses of your rangefinder clean for optimal performance. Use the included lens cloth or a soft, lint-free cloth. For stubborn dirt or smudges, use a lens cleaning solution designed for optics.
2. General Care
- Store the rangefinder in its soft carry case when not in use.
- Avoid extreme temperatures and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
- The unit is waterproof (IP54 rated), but avoid submerging it for extended periods.
- Do not attempt to disassemble the rangefinder, as this will void the warranty.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Diamondback HD 2000, consider the following:
- No Display/Unit Not Powering On: Check the CR2 battery. Ensure it is correctly installed and has sufficient charge. Replace if necessary.
- Inaccurate Readings: Ensure a clear line of sight to the target. Obstacles like dense fog, heavy rain, or thick brush can affect accuracy. Try ranging a different, more reflective target.
- Display Not Clear: Adjust the diopter focus ring. Ensure the objective and ocular lenses are clean.
- Unit Freezes: Remove and reinsert the battery to perform a hard reset.
