6. Installation Instructions
Follow these steps carefully to install the Mytkoj Generator Petcock Fuel Tank Shut Off Valve.
- Prepare the Generator:
- Ensure the generator is turned off and the engine is cool.
- Locate the existing fuel shut-off valve on the generator's fuel tank.
- Drain Fuel:
- Place a suitable fuel-safe container under the fuel tank.
- Open the existing fuel valve (if applicable) and drain all fuel from the tank into the container.
- Once the tank is empty, close the existing valve.
- Remove Old Valve:
- Carefully disconnect the fuel line from the old shut-off valve.
- Unscrew and remove the old fuel shut-off valve from the fuel tank. Be prepared for any residual fuel.
- Install New Valve:
- Ensure the new Mytkoj valve is clean and free of debris.
- Important: Screw the end of the valve that contains the screen filter into the bottom of the fuel tank. This ensures proper filtration.
- Tighten the valve securely using a 22mm wrench on the hex nut (refer to Figure 4.2 for nut dimensions). Do not overtighten.
- Connect Fuel Line:
- Connect the fuel pipe to the barb fitting on the other end of the newly installed shut-off valve (refer to Figure 4.1 for barb dimensions).
- Secure the fuel line connection, typically with a hose clamp if one was present or recommended.
- Refill and Check for Leaks:
- Refill the fuel tank with the appropriate fuel type.
- Inspect all connections for any signs of fuel leakage. If leaks are present, tighten connections or re-seat components as necessary. Do not operate the generator with fuel leaks.

This image shows the removable fuel cup and the integrated screen filter, which must be screwed into the tank first during installation.
7. Operating Instructions
The Mytkoj fuel shut-off valve features a simple ON/OFF lever for controlling fuel flow.

Figure 7.1: Valve Operation Markings
This image highlights the clear ON and OFF markings on the valve, indicating the position of the lever for fuel flow control. It also shows the zinc alloy material and the oil cup for impurity precipitation.
- To Allow Fuel Flow (ON): Move the lever to the "ON" position. This typically aligns the lever with the direction of fuel flow or as indicated by the markings on the valve body.
- To Stop Fuel Flow (OFF): Move the lever to the "OFF" position. This will shut off the fuel supply to the engine. It is recommended to turn the fuel off when the generator is not in use or during transport to prevent fuel leaks and reduce fire risk.
8. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and proper function of your fuel shut-off valve.
- Inspect for Leaks: Periodically check the valve and fuel line connections for any signs of fuel leakage. Address any leaks immediately.
- Clean Filter: The integrated screen filter can become clogged over time. If fuel flow is restricted, drain the fuel tank, remove the valve, and carefully clean the screen filter. Replace if damaged.
- Check O-Rings and Gaskets: Inspect O-rings and gaskets for cracks, wear, or damage. Replace them if necessary to maintain a proper seal.
- Storage: When storing the generator for extended periods, it is advisable to turn the fuel valve to the "OFF" position and run the engine until it runs out of fuel, or drain the fuel tank completely.
9. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Fuel Leakage | Loose connections, damaged O-ring/gasket, cracked valve body. | Tighten connections. Inspect and replace O-rings or gaskets. If valve body is cracked, replace the entire valve. |
| No Fuel Flow / Restricted Fuel Flow | Valve in "OFF" position, clogged screen filter, kinked fuel line. | Ensure valve is in "ON" position. Clean or replace screen filter. Inspect fuel line for obstructions or kinks. |
| Lever is Stiff or Hard to Turn | Accumulation of debris or corrosion. | Remove valve and clean thoroughly. Apply a small amount of fuel-safe lubricant if necessary. |
