Figure 2: Power source selection switch (AA / Li-ion) located on the side of the radio.
Important: Before use, move the switch to the desired power source (AA or Li-ion).
2.3 Battery Installation (AA Batteries)
If using AA batteries (not included), open the battery compartment cover on the back of the radio. Insert three AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity as indicated inside the compartment. Close the cover securely.

AA batteries provide an alternative power source and are not used to charge external devices via the power bank function.
2.4 Charging the Internal Battery
The internal 3000mAh rechargeable Li-ion battery can be charged using multiple methods:
- Micro USB Charging: Connect the provided USB charging cable to the Micro USB input port on the side of the radio and to a USB power source (e.g., wall adapter, computer). This is the primary charging method.
- Hand Crank: Extend the hand crank from the back of the radio and rotate it clockwise or counter-clockwise to generate power. Continuous cranking will charge the internal battery.
- Solar Panel: Place the radio with the solar panel facing direct sunlight. The solar panel is primarily for maintaining the battery charge and extending battery life, not for rapid charging.

3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Radio Tuning (FM/AM/WB)
To operate the radio:
- Select the desired band (FM, AM, or WB) using the band selector switch.
- Extend the telescopic antenna for optimal reception, especially for FM and Weather Band.
- Rotate the "Tuning" knob to find your desired station. The "Tuning" indicator light will illuminate when a strong signal is received.
For better reception, keep the radio away from electronic devices like mobile phones, refrigerators, and microwaves, which can cause interference.
Figure 5: The radio features a 17.2-inch ultra-long telescopic antenna and a U.S. Tech DSP chip for enhanced reception.
3.2 Weather Band (NOAA)
The Weather Band (WB) provides access to NOAA weather broadcasts (162.40-162.55MHz). This feature allows you to stay informed about local weather conditions and emergency alerts even when other communication methods are unavailable.
3.3 LED Flashlight and Reading Lamp
The radio includes two lighting options:
- LED Flashlight: Activate the flashlight by sliding the "LIGHT" switch. This provides a focused beam for illumination in dark environments.
- Reading Lamp: The reading lamp is integrated into the solar panel. Lift the solar panel to activate the reading lamp, which provides broader illumination for reading or general area lighting.
Figure 6: The radio's LED flashlight illuminates a dark area, while the reading lamp provides ambient light for activities like reading.
3.4 SOS Alarm Function
In emergency situations, slide the "SOS" switch to activate a loud alarm (115dB) and a flashing light. This feature is designed to attract attention and signal for help.
Figure 7: The SOS alarm emits a high-power 115dB sound and flashing lights to help locate users in emergencies.
3.5 Power Bank Function
The internal 3000mAh rechargeable battery can be used as a power bank to charge external USB devices, such as smartphones. Connect your device to the USB output port (USB OUT 5V) on the side of the radio. Ensure the power source switch is set to "Li-ion" mode for this function.
Figure 8: The radio's power bank function allows charging of external devices in critical moments.
4. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your PRUNUS J-369 radio, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Wipe the radio with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Storage: Store the radio in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Battery Care: If storing for extended periods, ensure the internal rechargeable battery is partially charged (around 50%) and recharge it every few months to prevent deep discharge. Utilize the solar panel for trickle charging to maintain battery health during standby.
- Water Resistance: The radio has an IPX3 waterproof rating, meaning it is protected against spraying water. Do not submerge the radio in water. Ensure all port covers are securely closed to maintain water resistance.
Figure 9: The IPX3 waterproof rating makes the radio suitable for adverse weather conditions, but it should not be submerged.
5. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your PRUNUS J-369 radio, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No power or radio not turning on. | Battery depleted or incorrect power source selected. | Ensure the power source switch is set correctly (AA or Li-ion). Charge the internal battery via USB, hand crank, or solar. If using AA batteries, replace them. |
| Poor radio reception. | Antenna not extended, interference from other electronics, or weak signal area. | Fully extend the telescopic antenna. Move the radio away from other electronic devices. Try adjusting the radio's position. |
| External device not charging via power bank. | Power source switch not set to Li-ion, or internal battery is too low. | Ensure the power source switch is set to "Li-ion". Charge the internal battery fully before attempting to charge external devices. |
| Flashlight or reading lamp not working. | Battery depleted or switch not fully engaged. | Charge the internal battery. Ensure the "LIGHT" switch is fully slid to the ON position. |
