5. Setup

  1. Plug In the Meter: Insert the Vivanco EM3680W into a standard wall outlet. The 180° rotating plug allows for flexible positioning. The display should illuminate.
  2. Initial Reset (Recommended): To ensure accurate readings from the start, locate the small RESET button (often recessed) and press it using a thin, non-conductive object (e.g., a pen tip). This will clear all previous data.
  3. Set Electricity Tariff:
    • Press the MODE button repeatedly until the display shows the tariff setting (e.g., 'COST/kWh' or a similar indicator).
    • Use the UP button to adjust the tariff value to match your current electricity rate per kilowatt-hour. Refer to your electricity bill for this information.
    • Press MODE again to confirm the setting and exit the tariff adjustment mode.
  4. Connect Appliance: Plug the appliance you wish to monitor into the integrated power socket of the Vivanco EM3680W meter.

6. Operation

Once set up, the meter will begin monitoring the connected appliance. Use the MODE button to cycle through various display screens.

  1. Viewing Real-time Power: Press MODE until the display shows the current power consumption, typically in Watts (W).
  2. Viewing Accumulated Energy (kWh): Press MODE until the display shows 'TOTAL kWh' or similar, indicating the total energy consumed since the last reset.
  3. Viewing Accumulated Cost: Press MODE until the display shows the total accumulated cost, calculated based on your set tariff and total kWh.
  4. Other Display Modes: The meter may offer additional display modes such as voltage (V), current (A), frequency (Hz), or power factor. Cycle through with the MODE button to view these.
  5. Resetting Data: To clear all accumulated data (kWh, cost, etc.) and start a new measurement cycle, press the recessed RESET button using a thin, non-conductive object.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Storage: Store the meter in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.
  • Safety: Do not attempt to open or repair the device. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel. Avoid exposing the meter to water or high humidity.

8. Troubleshooting
