Setup
1. Battery Charging and Installation
- Insert the 20V MAX Lithium Battery into the charger. Ensure the charger is plugged into a standard electrical outlet.
- Allow the battery to charge fully. The charge indicator on the tool or charger will signal when charging is complete.
- Once charged, slide the battery pack into the tool's battery port until it clicks securely into place.

2. Guard Installation
- Align the guard with the slots on the trimmer head.
- Push the guard firmly until it snaps into position. Ensure it is securely attached before use.
3. Handle and Height Adjustment
- Loosen the adjustment collar on the shaft.
- Adjust the shaft length to a comfortable operating height.
- Adjust the auxiliary handle to a comfortable position for optimal balance and control.
- Tighten the adjustment collar and handle securely.

Operating Instructions
1. Starting and Stopping
- To start the trimmer, press the safety lock-off button and then squeeze the trigger switch.
- To stop the trimmer, release the trigger switch.
2. Trimming Operation
- Hold the trimmer firmly with both hands.
- Swing the trimmer from side to side, keeping the cutting line parallel to the ground.
- Maintain a safe distance from obstacles and bystanders.
- The Automatic Feed Spool (AFS) will automatically advance the line as needed during operation.

3. Edging Operation
- To convert to an edger, rotate the shaft 180 degrees until the head is perpendicular to the ground.
- Use the built-in edge guide to maintain a straight line along sidewalks and driveways.
- Walk slowly and steadily, guiding the trimmer along the edge.

Maintenance
1. Cleaning
- After each use, remove the battery and clean the tool with a damp cloth.
- Remove any grass, dirt, or debris from the guard and cutting head.
- Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
2. Line Replacement
- When the trimmer line runs out, replace the AFS spool with a new BLACK+DECKER replacement spool.
- Refer to the specific instructions provided with the replacement spool for proper installation.
3. Battery Care
- Store batteries in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
