1. Introduction
The AMTAST WJL-6000 is a portable halogen gas sniffer designed for precise detection of various refrigerant leaks. Utilizing advanced sensing technology, this device helps users accurately pinpoint leakage points of refrigerants such as CFCs, HFCs, and HCFCs. It features adjustable sensitivity, audible and visual alarms, and a flexible probe for accessing hard-to-reach areas.

2. Safety Information
- Always operate the device in a well-ventilated area.
- Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight.
- Ensure correct battery polarity when installing batteries.
- Keep the device away from water and moisture.
- Do not attempt to repair or modify the device yourself. Refer to qualified personnel for service.
- This device is designed for refrigerant leak detection only. Do not use it for detecting natural gas or other combustible gases.
3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
- Slide or unclip the cover to open it.
- Insert four (4) AAA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
Note: Batteries are not included with the device.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Powering On and Warm-up
- Turn the device ON using the 'off/on' switch.
- Allow approximately 6 seconds for the device to warm up. During this time, the indicator light may flash.
4.2 Sensitivity Adjustment
The WJL-6000 offers 7 adjustable sensitivity levels. Rotate the sensitivity knob to select the desired level. Higher numbers indicate higher sensitivity, allowing detection of smaller leaks.

4.3 Leak Detection Process
- With the device warmed up, move the flexible probe slowly around suspected leak areas.
- When a refrigerant leak is detected, the device will emit an audible "siren" sound, and the indicator light will flash rapidly. The intensity of the sound and the flashing rate increase with higher concentrations of refrigerant.
- Use the flexible probe to reach difficult and hard-to-access areas, such as under pipes or behind machinery.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the casing or internal components.
5.2 Battery Replacement
Replace batteries when the device's performance degrades or if the low battery indicator (if present) activates. Always use fresh AAA alkaline batteries.
5.3 Probe Care
Handle the flexible probe with care. Avoid sharp bends or excessive force that could damage the probe or its connection to the main unit.
6. Troubleshooting
- Device does not power on: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are fresh.
- No detection or inconsistent readings: Ensure the probe is clean. Adjust sensitivity to a higher level. Allow sufficient warm-up time.
- False alarms: Reduce sensitivity. Ensure the operating environment is free from other halogenated compounds that might trigger the sensor.
- Weak alarm sound/light: Replace batteries.
