1. Setup and Installation

This section provides detailed instructions for setting up and installing your PRUVEEO J20-4CH Mirror Dash Cam.

1.1 What's in the Box

Verify that all components are present before beginning installation:

• 1× Rear Camera
• 1× Car Charger
• 1× GPS module
• 1× 128 GB Micro SD Card

• 1× User Manual

1.2 Initial Setup and Preparation

• Memory Card: The dash cam comes with a free 128GB V30 speed memory card. Max supports 256 GB Micro SD Card. Please format the card on the Dash Cam before first use. To format:
  1. Tap the record video icon to stop the device from recording.
  2. Tap the setting menu icon to access settings.
  3. Scroll up or down on the screen to navigate to "Format SD" option.
  4. Tap to view the current selection.
  5. Tap OK to format the card.
  6. Tap the icon to exit.

  Important: Always back up important data before formatting a memory card. Avoid "Generic Class 10" cards from third-party sellers as they are not made for 4-channel recording dash cams.

• Power: The dash cam has no built-in battery for safety. Always connect the dash cam to the external power cord while in use. It starts recording when the engine is turned on and stops when it is turned off.

1.3 Mounting the Mirror Dash Cam

The J20-4CH mirror dash camera is designed for simple installation:

• Use the provided straps to securely attach the dash cam over your original rearview mirror.
• Connect the micro SD card and link to the power source.

1.4 Side Camera Installation

The two cabin cameras are adjustable 360 degrees to capture the interior of the vehicle, including front and rear seats, or can be pointed outwards through the side windows.

1.5 Rear Camera Installation

The rear camera records in 1080P and is designed to be waterproof, allowing for external mounting.

• Internal Mounting: For internal mounting on the rear window, use the provided double-sided tape.
• External Mounting: For external mounting, such as on the license plate, the camera is waterproof. Adjust the camera angle for optimal rear view.
• Wiring: Route the rear camera cable through the vehicle's interior, concealing it within car panels and weather stripping for a clean installation. Ensure cables are not crimped when doors or trunk are closed.

1.6 GPS Module Installation

The external GPS module allows for precise vehicle location, speed, time, and route tracking.

• Connect the GPS module to the designated port on the dash cam.
• Mount the GPS module in a location with a clear view of the sky, typically on the dashboard or near the windshield, using adhesive if necessary.

2. Operating Instructions

Understand the various functions and features of your PRUVEEO J20-4CH Mirror Dash Cam for optimal use.

2.1 Power On/Off and Automatic Recording

• The dash cam automatically powers on and begins recording when the vehicle engine starts.
• It automatically powers off when the vehicle engine is turned off.
• If external power is disconnected, the dash cam will shut down after 5 seconds.

2.2 Touch Screen Interface

The 12-inch LCD touch screen allows for easy navigation and control.

• Swipe sideways to switch between camera views (front, left, right, rear, or split-screen).
• Swipe up and down to adjust the camera's vertical view.
• Access menu settings by tapping the screen and selecting the appropriate icons.

2.3 Loop Recording and Emergency Accident Locks

• Loop Recording: To ensure continuous recording, the oldest unlocked footage is automatically overwritten when the memory card reaches its maximum storage capacity.
• Emergency Accident Locks: The built-in G-sensor automatically detects collisions. Upon impact, the dash cam locks the currently recording footage, preventing it from being overwritten. These locked files serve as crucial evidence.

2.4 Parking Monitor

• The dash cam supports 24-hour parking monitoring.
• Note: For 24H parking monitoring, an ACC hardwire kit with low battery voltage detection is required (not included).

2.5 GPS Tracking and Speed Display

• The external GPS module precisely pinpoints the vehicle's location, speed (KMH/MPH), time, and routes in real-time.
• Install and use the GPS player software (details in manual) to view path trajectory and coordinates, which can be important for roadside assistance and insurance claims.

• Cable Management: Periodically check all cables to ensure they are securely tucked away and not pinched or damaged, which could affect performance.
• Temperature: Avoid exposing the dash cam to extreme temperatures for extended periods. While designed for automotive use, prolonged direct sunlight in a parked car can be harsh.

If you encounter issues with your dash cam, refer to the following common solutions:

• Dash Cam Not Powering On:
  • Ensure the car charger is properly connected to the vehicle's power outlet and the dash cam.
  • Check the vehicle's power outlet for functionality (e.g., by plugging in another device).
• Recording Issues (e.g., stops recording, corrupted files):
  • Format the Micro SD card within the dash cam's settings.
  • Ensure you are using a compatible Micro SD card (V30 speed, max 256GB). Avoid generic cards.
  • Check if loop recording is enabled and set to an appropriate duration (e.g., 1, 3, or 5 minutes).
• Rear Camera Displaying Blue Screen or No Signal:
  • Verify that the rear camera cable is securely connected to both the rear camera and the main dash cam unit.
  • Inspect the cable for any visible damage or kinks.
• GPS Not Tracking:
  • Ensure the GPS module is properly connected to the dash cam.
  • Verify the GPS module is mounted in a location with a clear view of the sky.
• Interior Camera Video Appears Purple at Night:
  • This is normal behavior. The interior camera uses a special lens that can detect ultraviolet rays. The video will appear purple in places without sunlight.
