5. Setup

5.1. Installation

  1. Power Off: Ensure the main power supply to your heating system is turned off at the circuit breaker before beginning installation.
  2. Mounting Location: Choose a central location on an interior wall, away from direct sunlight, drafts, or heat sources that could affect temperature readings.
  3. Separate Front and Back Panels: Gently pry open the thermostat to separate the front display panel from the back wiring plate.
  4. Mount Back Plate: Secure the back wiring plate to the wall using the provided mounting screws. Ensure it is level.

5.2. Wiring Diagram

Refer to the diagram below for correct wiring. Incorrect wiring can damage the thermostat or your heating system. If unsure, consult a qualified electrician.

  • L (Live): Connect to the Live wire from your power supply (AC100-240V).
  • N (Neutral): Connect to the Neutral wire from your power supply (AC100-240V).
  • 1, 2 (Dry Contact): These are the dry contact output terminals for controlling your boiler. Connect these to the boiler's control input terminals (usually marked as 'Thermostat', 'RT', or 'COM/NO'). The thermostat acts as a switch, closing the circuit when heating is required.
  • 7 (NTC): This terminal is for an optional external NTC temperature sensor. If you are using an external sensor, connect it here. Otherwise, leave it unconnected. The thermostat uses its internal sensor by default.
  • Other Terminals (3, 4, 5, 6): These terminals are typically not used for standard boiler heating applications with dry contact control. Refer to specific boiler or system diagrams if your setup requires additional connections.

After wiring, carefully attach the front display panel back onto the wiring plate. Restore power at the circuit breaker.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Manual Operation

  • Power On/Off: Press the Power button (usually a circle with a vertical line) to turn the thermostat on or off.
  • Temperature Adjustment: Use the Up (▲) and Down (▼) arrows to adjust the desired set temperature.
  • Mode Selection: Press the Mode button (M) to cycle through different operating modes (e.g., Manual, Auto, Program).
  • Clock/Time Setting: Press the Clock button (usually a clock icon) to enter time setting mode. Use Up/Down arrows to adjust.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the thermostat's display and casing with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or spray directly onto the unit.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Tuya Smart/Smart Life app for available firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and new features.
  • Sensor Calibration: If you suspect inaccurate temperature readings, check the thermostat's placement and ensure no external factors are influencing the sensor. Some advanced settings in the app may allow for minor calibration.

8. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Thermostat not powering on.No power supply; incorrect wiring.Check circuit breaker. Verify L and N wiring connections.
Boiler not heating.Incorrect wiring (dry contact); thermostat in off mode; set temperature too low; boiler issue.Check wiring to boiler (terminals 1 & 2). Ensure thermostat is on and set temperature is above room temperature. Check boiler's own power and settings.
Cannot connect to app.No Zigbee gateway; thermostat not in pairing mode; weak Zigbee signal.Ensure Zigbee gateway is powered and connected to the app. Put thermostat into pairing mode as per app instructions. Move gateway closer or use a Zigbee repeater.
Inaccurate temperature reading.Thermostat placed near heat source/draft; internal sensor issue.Relocate thermostat if possible. Check for drafts or direct sunlight. If using external sensor, ensure it's properly connected.

If the problem persists after trying these solutions, please contact customer support.
