Setup and Installation
Before beginning installation, ensure your system is powered off and disconnected from the power source. Refer to your motherboard manual for specific CPU socket and fan header locations.
1. Prepare the Motherboard
Identify the correct mounting brackets for your CPU socket (Intel or AMD). Attach the appropriate standoffs to the motherboard.

The Kraken 240 pump comes with pre-applied thermal paste. Keep the plastic cover on the copper cooling plate until the final step of mounting to prevent contamination.
2. Mount the Radiator and Fans
Attach the two F120P fans to the 240mm radiator using the provided screws. Ensure the fans are oriented to provide optimal airflow for your case configuration (e.g., intake or exhaust).

Secure the assembled radiator and fans to an available mounting location in your PC case, typically at the top or front.
3. Install the Pump
Carefully remove the plastic cover from the pump's copper cooling plate. Align the pump with the standoffs on the motherboard and gently lower it until it makes contact with the CPU. Secure the pump using the thumb screws.

Operating the Kraken 240
Once installation is complete and your system is powered on, the Kraken 240 will begin cooling your CPU. To unlock the full potential of the customizable LCD display and monitor performance, install the NZXT CAM software.
NZXT CAM Software
Download and install the latest version of NZXT CAM from the official NZXT website. This software allows you to:
- Monitor CPU and GPU temperatures, fan speeds, and pump RPM.
- Customize the content displayed on the 1.54" LCD screen, including images, GIFs, and system metrics.
- Adjust fan curves and pump speeds for optimal cooling performance and noise levels.
- Integrate with various web content and applications for dynamic display options.
Maintenance
The NZXT Kraken 240 is designed for low maintenance. However, regular checks can help ensure its longevity and optimal performance.
- Dust Cleaning: Periodically clean dust from the radiator fins and fans using compressed air. Ensure the fans are not spinning during cleaning to prevent damage.
- Tubing Inspection: Visually inspect the nylon-braided tubing for any signs of kinks, leaks, or damage.
- Software Updates: Keep your NZXT CAM software updated to benefit from the latest features, performance optimizations, and bug fixes.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your NZXT Kraken 240, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| High CPU Temperatures | Insufficient thermal paste contact, dust buildup on radiator, incorrect fan orientation, pump not functioning. | Re-seat pump, clean radiator/fans, check fan orientation, verify pump connection and function via NZXT CAM. |
| LCD Display Not Working | Loose USB connection, NZXT CAM software issue, driver conflict. | Check USB 2.0 header connection, restart NZXT CAM, update/reinstall NZXT CAM, update motherboard chipset drivers. |
| Fans Not Spinning/Loud | Loose fan connection, incorrect fan curve in NZXT CAM, fan malfunction. | Check fan header connections, adjust fan curve in NZXT CAM, replace faulty fan. |
| Leakage | Damaged tubing or fittings. | Immediately power off system. Contact NZXT support for warranty and replacement. |
