  • Read all instructions.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or toaster in water or other liquid.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.
  • The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  • Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
  • Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to “off,” then remove plug from wall outlet.
  • Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
  • Oversize foods, metal foil packages, or utensils must not be inserted in a toaster as they may create a risk of fire or electric shock.
  • A fire may occur if toasters are covered or touching flammable material, including curtains, draperies, walls, and the like, when in operation.

  4. Crumb Tray: Ensure the crumb tray is correctly inserted before use.

5. Operating Instructions - Toaster

5.1 Basic Toasting

  1. Plug the toaster into a suitable electrical outlet.
  2. Place slices of bread into the toasting slots. The extra-wide slots accommodate various bread types.
  3. Use the Selector Dial to activate the desired number of slots (e.g., 2 slots for two slices, 4 slots for four slices).
  4. Turn the Timer Dial to your preferred browning level. Start with a medium setting and adjust as needed for subsequent toasting.
  5. The toaster will begin toasting. When the cycle is complete, the toast will automatically pop up.
  6. To stop toasting at any time, turn the Timer Dial to the 'Off' position or use the Eject Lever.

5.2 Defrost Setting

The defrost setting is designed to gently thaw and then toast frozen bread.

  1. Place frozen bread into the slots.
  2. Select the desired slots with the Selector Dial.
  3. Turn the Timer Dial to the desired browning level, then press the defrost button (if available, or refer to specific model markings for defrost function). The toaster will automatically adjust the toasting cycle to account for frozen bread.

5.3 Bagel Setting

The bagel setting toasts the cut side of bagels while gently warming the outer side.

  1. Slice the bagel and place it into the slots with the cut side facing inwards towards the heating elements.
  2. Select the desired slots with the Selector Dial.
  3. Turn the Timer Dial to the desired browning level, then press the bagel button (if available, or refer to specific model markings for bagel function).

6. Operating Instructions - Sandwich Cage

  1. Prepare your sandwich with desired fillings. Ensure fillings are not excessively moist or prone to dripping.
  2. Open the sandwich cage and place the sandwich inside. Close the cage securely. The built-in drip tray will help contain any melted cheese or other fillings.
  3. Insert the filled sandwich cage into an empty toasting slot of the Dualit Classic NewGen Toaster.
  4. Select the corresponding slot(s) using the Selector Dial.
  5. Set the Timer Dial to your preferred browning level. A slightly longer time may be required compared to plain toast due to the sandwich's thickness and fillings.
  6. Once toasting is complete, use the cool-touch handle to carefully remove the hot sandwich cage from the toaster.
  7. Open the cage and remove your toasted sandwich.

7. Care and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your appliance.

7.1 Toaster Cleaning

  1. Unplug and Cool: Always unplug the toaster from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Empty Crumb Tray: Pull out the removable crumb tray from the bottom of the toaster. Discard crumbs and wipe the tray clean with a damp cloth. Dry thoroughly before reinserting.
  3. Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the toaster with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or metal scouring pads, as these can scratch the chrome finish.
  4. Interior: Do not attempt to clean the interior heating elements. If food becomes lodged, unplug the toaster, allow it to cool, and carefully invert it to shake out the debris. Do not use metal objects to remove food.

7.2 Sandwich Cage Cleaning

The stainless steel sandwich cage is easy to clean.

  • Hand Washing: Hand wash the sandwich cage with warm, soapy water.
  • Rinse and Dry: Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before storage or next use.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Dualit toaster or sandwich cage, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Toaster not turning on:
    • Ensure the toaster is securely plugged into a working power outlet.
    • Check your household fuse box or circuit breaker.
  • Uneven toasting:
    • Ensure bread slices are evenly sized and centered in the slots.
    • Adjust the Timer Dial for a different browning level.
    • Clean the crumb tray regularly, as excessive crumbs can affect performance.
  • Smoke coming from toaster:
    • Unplug immediately.
    • This may be due to food lodged inside or excessive crumbs. Allow to cool, then clean the crumb tray and carefully remove any visible food particles.
    • If smoke persists after cleaning, discontinue use and contact customer support.
  • Sandwich cage not fitting or difficult to insert:
    • Ensure the sandwich cage is correctly aligned with the toaster slots.
    • Do not overfill the sandwich cage, as this can cause it to expand and become difficult to insert.
