1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the CONCORD 12" THE BLOCK BURNER. This single propane outdoor burner is designed for versatile outdoor cooking applications, including home brewing, camping, tailgating, and more. With a powerful 100,000 BTU output, it provides efficient and consistent heat for various culinary needs. This manual provides essential information for safe and effective use, setup, operation, and maintenance of your burner.

2. Important Safety Information

WARNING: Failure to follow these instructions could result in fire, explosion, or carbon monoxide poisoning, which could cause property damage, personal injury, or death.

  • Outdoor Use Only: This appliance is for outdoor use only. Do not operate indoors or in enclosed spaces.
  • Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation. Do not obstruct the flow of combustion and ventilation air.
  • Propane Gas Only: Use only propane gas. Do not connect to a natural gas supply.
  • Leak Test: Always perform a leak test before initial use, after any cylinder change, or if the burner has been unused for a period. Use a soapy water solution; never use a flame.
  • Clearance: Maintain minimum clearances from combustible materials: 24 inches from sides and back, 48 inches from top.
  • Stable Surface: Operate the burner on a level, stable, non-combustible surface.
  • Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the burner during operation and while it is cooling down.
  • Hot Surfaces: The burner and surrounding areas will become extremely hot. Use heat-resistant gloves and avoid direct contact.
  • Regulator: Use only the provided high-pressure 0-20 PSI regulator hose. Do not use other regulators.
  • Storage: Disconnect the propane cylinder when the burner is not in use. Store the cylinder outdoors in a well-ventilated area, out of reach of children.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all components are present and undamaged before assembly. If any parts are missing or damaged, do not attempt to assemble or operate the burner. Contact customer support immediately.

4. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your CONCORD 12" THE BLOCK BURNER:

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  2. Placement: Place the burner on a firm, level, non-combustible surface outdoors, ensuring adequate clearance from all combustible materials.
  3. Connect Regulator: Attach the regulator hose to the burner's gas inlet. Hand-tighten the connection securely.
  4. Connect to Propane Tank: Connect the other end of the regulator hose to a standard propane cylinder (not included). Ensure the tank valve is closed before connecting. Hand-tighten the connection.
  5. Leak Test: With the burner valve closed, slowly open the propane tank valve. Apply a soapy water solution to all connections. If bubbles appear, there is a leak. Close the tank valve, re-tighten connections, and re-test. Do not operate if a leak persists.

5. Operating Instructions

Before lighting, ensure the burner is on a stable surface and all safety precautions have been observed.

  1. Prepare: Ensure the propane tank valve is fully open.
  2. Light the Burner: Slowly turn the control knob on the regulator counter-clockwise to the 'LOW' position. Immediately apply a long lighter or match to the burner head. The burner should ignite with a steady flame.
  3. Adjust Flame: Once lit, adjust the flame intensity by rotating the control knob on the regulator. Turn clockwise to decrease flame, counter-clockwise to increase.
  4. Turn Off: To turn off the burner, first close the valve on the propane tank. Allow the flame to extinguish naturally as the remaining gas in the hose burns off. Once the flame is out, turn the control knob on the regulator to the 'OFF' position.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Allow the burner to cool completely before cleaning. Wipe down the powder-coated steel frame with a damp cloth. For the cast iron burner head, use a wire brush to remove any debris or carbon buildup. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: Disconnect the propane cylinder. Store the burner in a dry, protected area away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. The foldable handle allows for easy storage.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the hose for cuts, abrasions, or excessive wear. Replace the hose and regulator assembly if any damage is found.
