Setup Guide
1. Hard Drive Installation
The FIDECO Hard Drive Enclosure features a tool-free design for easy installation of 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SATA HDDs/SSDs.

Image: A four-panel diagram illustrating the tool-free installation process: 1. Pushing to open the panel cover. 2. Aligning and inserting a 3.5" SATA HDD. 3. Pushing to lock the panel cover. 4. Connecting USB and power, then pressing the power button.
- Open the Enclosure: Gently push to slide open the panel cover of the HDD enclosure.
- Insert Hard Drive: Align the SATA interface of your 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SATA HDD/SSD with the connector inside the enclosure and firmly insert the drive.
- Close the Enclosure: Push the panel cover back until it locks securely into place.
2. Connecting to Your Computer
- Connect Power Adapter: Plug the 12V power adapter into the DC 12V input port on the enclosure, then plug the adapter into a wall outlet.
- Connect USB Cable: Connect one end of the included USB 3.0 cable to the USB 3.0 port on the enclosure and the other end to an available USB 3.0 port on your computer.
- Power On: Press the power button on the enclosure. The power light will illuminate.
Note: For optimal performance, connect the enclosure to a USB 3.0 port on your computer. If connecting an 18TB or larger HDD, it is recommended to plug the USB cable into a back USB port of your computer case for stable power delivery.
3. Initializing New Hard Drives
If you are using a brand new hard drive, it must be initialized and formatted before it can be recognized and used by your computer. This process does not apply to drives that already contain data.
- For Windows:
- Right-click on "This PC" (or "My Computer") and select "Manage".
- In the Computer Management window, select "Disk Management" under "Storage".
- Locate your new hard drive (it will likely be marked as "Unallocated" or "Not Initialized").
- Right-click on the disk and select "Initialize Disk". Choose MBR (Master Boot Record) for drives up to 2TB or GPT (GUID Partition Table) for drives larger than 2TB.
- After initialization, right-click on the unallocated space and select "New Simple Volume" to format the drive and assign a drive letter. Follow the on-screen prompts.
- For Mac:
- Open "Disk Utility" (Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility).
- Select your new hard drive from the sidebar.
- Click "Erase" from the toolbar.
- Choose a format (e.g., APFS or Mac OS Extended (Journaled)) and a scheme (e.g., GUID Partition Map).
- Click "Erase" again to confirm.
Operating Instructions
Data Transfer
The FIDECO Hard Drive Enclosure supports USB 3.0 for super-speed data transfer up to 5Gbps, and is backward compatible with USB 2.0. It also supports UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol) for enhanced performance.

Image: A computer setup showing the FIDECO enclosure connected to a laptop, with graphics illustrating USB 3.0 (5Gbps) and USB 2.0 (480Mbps) speeds, emphasizing UASP support for faster data transfer.
Once the hard drive is properly installed and the enclosure is connected to your computer, the drive will appear as an external storage device. You can then drag and drop files, copy, paste, or use backup software to transfer data to and from the drive.
Cooling Fan Operation
The built-in cooling fan helps maintain optimal operating temperatures for your hard drive, prolonging its lifespan and ensuring stable performance during extended use.

Image: A comparison showing the temperature of a 2.5" SATA SSD in the enclosure. Without the fan, the temperature is 99.1°F (39.7°C). With the fan turned on, the temperature drops to 82.4°F (28.1°C), demonstrating the fan's effectiveness.
To activate the cooling fan, locate the Cooling Fan Switch on the back of the enclosure and toggle it to the 'ON' position. The fan will begin to operate, providing active cooling. For general use, keeping the fan on is recommended, especially during large data transfers or prolonged operation.
Compatibility
The FIDECO Hard Drive Enclosure offers broad compatibility with various operating systems and devices.

Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your FIDECO Hard Drive Enclosure, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior of the enclosure. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the device.
- Dust Removal: Periodically check the cooling fan and ventilation holes for dust accumulation. Use compressed air to gently clear any dust to ensure proper airflow and cooling efficiency.
- Storage: When not in use, store the enclosure in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Handling: Handle the enclosure with care to avoid dropping or subjecting it to physical shocks, which could damage the internal components or the installed hard drive.
- Safe Ejection: Always safely eject the hard drive from your operating system before disconnecting the USB cable or powering off the enclosure to prevent data corruption.
