1. Product Overview
The Jyving LCD Digital Temperature Humidity Meter (models HTC-1 and HTC-2) is a versatile device designed to monitor indoor and, for the HTC-2 model, outdoor temperature and humidity. It features a large LCD display for easy readability and includes additional functions such as a clock, calendar, and daily alarm. The device can be placed on a desktop or mounted on a wall.

2. Setup and Installation
2.1 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
- Slide open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert one 1.5V AAA size battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
Note: Batteries are not included with the device.
2.2 Placement
The meter can be placed in two ways:
- Desktop Placement: Extend the folding bracket on the back of the device to stand it upright on a flat surface.
- Wall Hanging: Use the hanging hole located on the back of the device to mount it on a wall using a nail or screw (not included).

2.3 Sensor Information
- HTC-1 Model: The temperature and humidity sensors are built-in. For more precise indoor readings, ensure the sensor area (small vents on the device) is exposed to the environment.
- HTC-2 Model: This model includes an external probe with a 1.5-meter cable for outdoor temperature measurement, while indoor humidity is measured by the built-in sensor.
3. Operating Instructions
The device features three control buttons on the front: MODE, ADJ, and MEMORY.

3.1 Button Functions
- MODE Button:
- Press once to switch between displaying the current time, date, and alarm time.
- Press and hold to enter time/date setting mode.
- ADJ Button:
- Used to adjust values (hours, minutes, date) when in setting mode.
- In normal time display mode, press to switch between 12-hour and 24-hour formats.
- MEMORY Button:
- Press once to display the maximum (MAX) temperature and humidity recorded since the last reset.
- Press again to display the minimum (MIN) temperature and humidity.
- Press a third time to return to current readings.
- Press and hold for approximately 2 seconds to clear the MAX/MIN memory.
3.2 Setting Time and Date
- Press and hold the MODE button for approximately 3 seconds until the hour digits flash.
- Use the ADJ button to set the hour.
- Press MODE again to move to the minute setting, then use ADJ to set the minutes.
- Continue pressing MODE to cycle through year, month, and date settings, adjusting each with the ADJ button.
- After setting the date, press MODE one last time to exit the setting mode.
3.3 Setting the Daily Alarm
- Press the MODE button repeatedly until the alarm time is displayed (usually indicated by an alarm icon).
- Press and hold the MODE button for approximately 3 seconds until the alarm hour digits flash.
- Use the ADJ button to set the desired alarm hour.
- Press MODE again to move to the alarm minute setting, then use ADJ to set the minutes.
- Press MODE one last time to exit the alarm setting mode.
- To activate or deactivate the alarm, press the ADJ button while the alarm time is displayed. An alarm icon will appear or disappear on the screen.
3.4 Switching Temperature Units (°C/°F)
To switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F), locate the small button inside the battery compartment (refer to Image 2). Press this button once to toggle the temperature unit.
4. Maintenance
4.1 Battery Replacement
When the display becomes dim or the device stops functioning, it is time to replace the battery. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 2.1. Always use a fresh 1.5V AAA size battery.
4.2 Cleaning
Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or immerse the device in water. Ensure the sensor vents are kept clear of dust and debris for accurate readings.
4.3 Storage
If the device will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery to prevent leakage and damage. Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
5. Troubleshooting
- No Display or Dim Display:
- Check if the battery is installed correctly with the correct polarity.
- Replace the battery with a new 1.5V AAA size battery.
- Inaccurate Temperature/Humidity Readings:
- Ensure the device is placed in a location free from direct sunlight, drafts, or heat sources.
- For HTC-1, ensure the built-in sensor vents are not obstructed.
- For HTC-2, ensure the external probe is correctly positioned for outdoor readings.
- Note that the humidity accuracy is +/-10% RH, and temperature accuracy is within typical ranges for such devices.
- Alarm Not Sounding:
- Verify that the alarm time is set correctly.
- Ensure the alarm function is activated (alarm icon visible on display).
- Display Shows "NO backlight":
- This device does not feature a backlight. This is normal operation and not a fault.
