1. Product Overview
The SIMON Series 10 Double Switch-Commutator is designed to control two independent light points from a single location. It can function as a standard ON/OFF switch or as a commutator, redirecting electrical current to connect different circuits. This unit is supplied as a pre-assembled component, including the mechanism, cover, and frame, to simplify the installation process. Its minimalist design with straight lines allows for seamless integration into various interior spaces.

4. Setup and Installation
The SIMON Series 10 Double Switch-Commutator is designed for straightforward installation. The metallic frame provides robustness, while the polypropylene frame offers flexibility during mounting.
4.1. Wiring Diagram and Connections
This device uses screw terminals for secure wiring connections. Refer to the diagram below for proper wiring. If you are unfamiliar with electrical wiring, consult a professional electrician.

Figure 3: Exploded view showing the mechanism, frame, and cover assembly.
- Preparation: Ensure the main power supply to the circuit is turned OFF at the consumer unit/fuse box.
- Mounting the Mechanism: Place the switch mechanism into the wall box. The flexible polypropylene frame aids in positioning.
- Wiring: Connect the electrical wires to the screw terminals. For a double switch-commutator, typically you will have a common phase wire (L) and two switched phase wires (L1, L2) for each light point, along with neutral and earth connections if applicable to the installation type. Ensure all connections are tight.
- Securing: Use the metallic claws to firmly secure the mechanism to the wall box.
- Attaching the Cover and Frame: Snap the decorative cover and frame onto the mechanism until they are securely in place.
- Final Check: Once installation is complete, restore power and test the functionality of both switches.
5. Operating Instructions
The SIMON Series 10 Double Switch-Commutator features two independent rocker switches. Each switch can control a separate light point or circuit.
- Switch Function: Press the top part of the rocker to turn the connected light/circuit ON. Press the bottom part to turn it OFF.
- Commutator Function: When configured as a commutator, pressing the rocker will switch the current path between two different conductors, allowing control of a light from multiple locations (e.g., at the top and bottom of a staircase).
6. Maintenance
The SIMON Series 10 Double Switch-Commutator requires minimal maintenance.
- Cleaning: To clean the surface, gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn marks, use a slightly damp cloth with mild soap, then dry immediately.
- Avoid: Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish.
- Inspection: Periodically check for any loose connections or signs of wear. If any damage is observed, disconnect power and replace the unit.
7. Troubleshooting
If the switch-commutator is not functioning as expected, consider the following:
- No Power: Check the main power supply and the circuit breaker. Ensure power is restored to the circuit.
- Light Not Turning On/Off: Verify that the light bulb is functional. Check all wiring connections at the switch and the light fixture for looseness or incorrect wiring.
- Intermittent Operation: This could indicate a loose connection. Disconnect power and re-check all screw terminals.
- Difficulty in Wiring: The wiring diagram on the mechanism can be complex for some users. If you encounter difficulties, it is recommended to consult a qualified electrician.
