TELEVES 53552034

Televes Low Gain Mast Amplifier 4 Inputs 12V - Model 53552034 User Manual

Brand: TELEVES | Model: 53552034

1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the Televes Low Gain Mast Amplifier, Model 53552034. This device is designed to amplify terrestrial television signals received from multiple antennas, ensuring optimal reception quality.

The amplifier features four inputs with amplification across all bands, including a split UHF band for channels 21-31 and 34-48. This design is particularly beneficial for installations receiving signals from two different transmitters, allowing for precise filtering of unwanted channels.

2. Safety Information

  • Always disconnect power before installation or maintenance.
  • Ensure proper grounding to prevent electrical hazards.
  • Install the amplifier in a location protected from extreme weather conditions, despite its robust outdoor casing.
  • Do not open the device casing beyond the access panel for connections, as there are no user-serviceable parts inside.
  • Use only the specified 12V DC power supply.

3. Product Overview and Features

The Televes 53552034 amplifier is designed for outdoor mast mounting and offers several key features:

  • 4 Inputs: Designed for multiple antenna connections.
  • Band-Specific Amplification: Separate amplification for each band (BIII/DAB, BIV, BV, UHF).
  • Split UHF Band: Two UHF inputs (channels 21-31 and 34-48) for filtering signals from different transmitters.
  • EasyF Connection System: Facilitates quick and secure coaxial cable connections.
  • LTE/5G Filter: Integrated filter to eliminate interference from mobile phone signals.
  • DC Pass-Through Switches: ON/OFF switches for enabling DC voltage pass-through to UHF inputs, allowing power supply to a BOSS system.
  • Robust Construction: High-shielding Zamak chassis and durable orange ABS plastic casing for outdoor installation.
  • 12V DC Power: Powered via the coaxial output cable.

From left to right, the connections are: 'OUT' (output), 'BIII/DAB', 'BIV', 'BV', and 'UHF' inputs. Each input has a corresponding screw terminal for coaxial cable connection. The model number '53552034' and '12 VDC' power requirement are visible on the metal chassis.

4. Setup and Installation

4.1. Mounting

  1. Select a suitable mast location for mounting, ensuring it is easily accessible for connections but protected from direct impact.
  2. Use the included fixing clamp to securely attach the amplifier to the mast. Ensure the amplifier is oriented to allow water drainage and easy access to the connection panel.

4.2. Connections

The amplifier features EasyF connection terminals. To connect coaxial cables:

  1. Prepare the coaxial cables by stripping the outer jacket and exposing the central conductor and braid.
  2. Insert the central conductor into the designated hole of the EasyF connector.
  3. Secure the braid under the screw terminal.
  4. Connect the antenna cables to the appropriate inputs:
    • BIII/DAB: For Band III and DAB signals.
    • BIV: For UHF channels 21-31.
    • BV: For UHF channels 34-48.
    • UHF: For general UHF signals (if not using split UHF inputs).
  5. Connect the output cable from the 'OUT' terminal to your TV system's distribution network or directly to a power supply unit.

4.3. Power Supply

The amplifier is powered by 12V DC through the coaxial output cable. A compatible power supply unit (not included) must be connected to the output cable indoors to provide power to the amplifier.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. DC Pass-Through for BOSS Systems

The amplifier includes ON/OFF switches for enabling DC voltage pass-through to the UHF inputs. This feature is used to power a Televes BOSS system antenna directly through the coaxial cable.

  • To power a BOSS system antenna connected to a UHF input, set the corresponding switch to 'ON'.
  • If no BOSS system is connected, ensure these switches are set to 'OFF' to prevent unintended power delivery.

5.2. Signal Filtering (UHF Inputs)

When receiving signals from two different transmitters, utilize the separate BIV (channels 21-31) and BV (channels 34-48) UHF inputs to filter and optimize reception. Connect the antenna receiving channels 21-31 to the BIV input and the antenna receiving channels 34-48 to the BV input. This helps to minimize interference and improve signal quality.

6. Maintenance

  • Periodically inspect the amplifier's casing and cable connections for any signs of damage or wear.
  • Ensure the protective orange ABS plastic casing is securely closed to maintain weather resistance.
  • Clean the exterior with a soft, damp cloth if necessary. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • No internal user-serviceable parts. Refer to qualified personnel for any repairs.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Signal:
    • Verify that the 12V DC power supply is correctly connected and functioning.
    • Check all coaxial cable connections for tightness and proper installation.
    • Ensure antennas are correctly aimed and free from obstructions.
  • Poor Signal Quality / Pixelation:
    • Check for potential interference from LTE/5G mobile signals. The integrated filter should mitigate this, but extreme cases might require further investigation.
    • Ensure the correct UHF input (BIV or BV) is used if filtering signals from different transmitters.
    • Inspect cables for damage or degradation.
  • BOSS System Not Powering On:
    • Confirm the DC pass-through switch for the relevant UHF input is set to 'ON'.
    • Verify the BOSS system antenna is compatible and correctly connected.
