2. Safety Information
Always observe the following basic safety precautions when using this appliance:

Main Unit Controls and Ports:
- Power Button: Turns the unit on or off.
- Volume Knob: Adjusts the master volume level.
- Display: Shows current mode, track information, and time.
- CD Tray: For inserting audio CDs.
- USB Port: For connecting USB storage devices for MP3 playback.
- AUX Input: 3.5mm jack for connecting external audio devices.
- Function Buttons: Play/Pause, Stop, Skip/Search, Mode selection.
5. Setup
Follow these steps for initial setup of your micro component system:
- Speaker Connection: Connect the speaker wires from each speaker to the corresponding speaker terminals on the rear of the main unit. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -).
- FM Antenna Connection: If included, connect the FM antenna to the FM antenna jack on the rear of the main unit for improved radio reception. Extend the antenna fully for best results.
- Power Connection: Plug the power cord into the AC IN socket on the rear of the main unit, then plug the other end into a standard AC wall outlet (120V ~ 60Hz).
- Placement: Place the main unit and speakers on a stable, flat surface. For optimal stereo sound, position the speakers equidistant from the listening area and spaced apart.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1. Power On/Off
Press the POWER button on the front panel or remote control to turn the unit on or off.
6.2. CD Player Operation
- Press the MODE/FUNCTION button to select 'CD' mode.
- Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the CD tray.
- Place a CD (audio CD, MP3 CD, CD-R, CD-RW) with the label side up into the tray.
- Press the OPEN/CLOSE button again to close the tray. The unit will begin reading the disc.
- Press PLAY/PAUSE to start or pause playback.
- Use SKIP/SEARCH buttons to navigate tracks.
6.3. Bluetooth Streaming
- Press the MODE/FUNCTION button to select 'Bluetooth' mode. The display will show 'BT' and flash, indicating it's ready for pairing.
- On your Bluetooth-enabled device (smartphone, tablet, etc.), enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
- Select 'SHARP XL-B512' from the list. Once paired, the 'BT' indicator will stop flashing.
- You can now play audio from your device through the XL-B512 system. Use your device or the system's controls for playback.
6.4. USB Playback
- Insert a USB flash drive containing MP3 audio files into the USB port on the front panel.
- Press the MODE/FUNCTION button to select 'USB' mode.
- The unit will automatically begin playing the first compatible audio file.
- Use PLAY/PAUSE and SKIP/SEARCH buttons to control playback.
6.5. FM Radio Tuning
- Press the MODE/FUNCTION button to select 'FM' mode.
- Press and hold the SKIP/SEARCH buttons to automatically scan for the next available station.
- Press briefly to manually tune step-by-step.
- To save a station, press the PROG/MEM button, use SKIP/SEARCH to select a preset number, then press PROG/MEM again to confirm.
6.6. Auxiliary Input (AUX)
- Connect an external audio device (e.g., MP3 player, smartphone) to the AUX IN jack on the front panel using a 3.5mm audio cable (not supplied).
- Press the MODE/FUNCTION button to select 'AUX' mode.
- Play audio from your connected device. The sound will be output through the XL-B512 speakers.
6.7. Remote Control Usage
The included remote control provides full functionality for your system.

Ensure the remote control is pointed directly at the main unit's sensor. Insert two AAA batteries (not included) into the remote control, observing correct polarity.
6.8. Sound Adjustments
- Volume: Rotate the volume knob on the main unit or use the VOL+/- buttons on the remote.
- Loudness Control: Press the LOUD button on the remote to enhance bass and treble at low volume levels. Press again to deactivate.
- Equalizer (EQ): Press the EQ button on the remote to cycle through preset equalizer modes (e.g., Flat, Rock, Pop, Classic, Jazz).
7. Maintenance
Proper care ensures the longevity of your system:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the unit's exterior. For stubborn stains, dampen the cloth with a mild detergent solution and wipe gently. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- CD Care: Handle CDs by their edges. Clean dirty CDs with a soft, lint-free cloth, wiping from the center outwards.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, unplug the unit from the power outlet. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
