Professional installation is required for this unit. The following steps provide an overview of the installation process. Always refer to the detailed instructions in the official user manual (PDF link available in Section 7) and consult with a qualified HVAC technician.
4.1 Pre-Installation Checklist
- Installation Location: Ensure the indoor unit is at least 6 inches below the ceiling for proper airflow. Verify proper clearances for your specific model in the user manual's Installation Preview Section. Keep the unit within the specified piping length and maximum elevation.
- Wall Sturdiness: Test the wall to ensure it is sturdy enough to hold the indoor unit's weight without vibrating.
- Clearance: Keep the inlet and outlet clear of any obstructions.
- Appliance Interference: Install the indoor unit 10 feet (3 meters) away from any TV or radio appliances to prevent interference.
- Outdoor Unit Placement: The outdoor unit must be spaced away from the wall. Ensure no plants or objects are within 3 feet of the appliance.
4.2 Indoor Unit Installation
- Marking Locations: Use the provided template to mark locations for the line set wall hole and the mini split bracket.
- Mounting Bracket: Use the provided screws to securely attach the mini split bracket to the wall. Use a leveler to ensure the bracket is correctly aligned.
- Running Lines: Route the line set, drain hose, and electrical wiring through the wall opening.
- Mounting Unit: Securely mount the mini split unit onto the bracket.
- Taping Lines: Tape the drain hose and line sets together for a neat and organized installation.
- Zip-Tying Wires: Use zip ties to secure the electrical wires around the taped line sets and drain hose.
4.3 Outdoor Unit Installation
- Positioning: Position the outdoor condenser unit in its designated location.
- Access Covers: Remove the cover of the electrical compartment and valve covers.
- Connecting Line Set: Connect the unit line set to the condenser line set and secure it firmly. If available, use a digital torque wrench to verify that the line sets are securely tightened according to specifications.
- Electrical Wiring: Ensure the outlet box is powered off before proceeding. First, connect the ground wire (green), followed by the line (black) and neutral (red) wires to their corresponding terminals on the outdoor condenser.
- Vacuuming the System: Ensure you have the appropriate vacuum equipment. Connect the hose from the outdoor condenser unit to the gauge. Properly connect the hose from the vacuum to the gauge. Open the valves on the gauge and activate the vacuum. Monitor the micron reading closely and close the valves once it reaches 350. Turn off the vacuum pump.
- Power On & Initial Startup: Restore power to the outlet. Activate the mini split unit and set it to the lowest cooling setting. Allow a few minutes for the outdoor condenser fan to initiate. Use a service wrench to gradually open the high side (top) valve. Monitor the gauge closely as the readings will decrease into the negative range. After opening the high side valve, promptly proceed to open the low side (bottom) valve. Monitor the gauge closely as the readings will increase, which is expected.
